I recently got a copy of Indigo Prophecy from the trade forum. The disc is in near mint condition. However, I am running into a problem. Just after the scene where the guy in the laundromat gets possessed, the screen goes black. If I press the circle button, the game will show me my current status. Additionally, I can pause and go into the story archive (select button). The screen, however, stays black.

Has anyone else had a similar circumstance or a suggestion for getting past this?

Had the exact same problem at that same point. No clue what do. Are you running the game on a PS2 or a PS3?

60GB PS3

I did a bit of searching around online and a forum over at Gamespot was discussing this. There were only 4 or 5 posts, but they said it was a problem with playing on a PS3. I just find it odd that a 60GB wouldn't play it.

EDIT: I looked it up on the PS2 compatibility listing for a 60GB and it does in fact state that the game will hang on a black screen at a certain point.

That's lame. I still have this sealed and was looking forward to playing it, but I have a 60GB. Maybe I should get rid of it and try it on PC.

Does anyone have experience downloading saves to the PS3? Is it even possible without a Max Replay or Gameshark device?

I figure if I can get a game save that has everything unlocked I can just skip that chapter and continue through the rest of the game. Of course, the other option is to borrow a PS2, pass that chapter and save and then go from there.

Not sure about downloading directly onto the PS3, but you can copy them pretty easily using USB or one of the card slots. The only trick is finding a save in the right format. It looks like GameFAQs has a bunch of saves with "all chapters selectable," but they're all in different formats and none of them say PS3 specifically. (When I've downloaded saves before, they've all said PS3 compatible.)

If you have the PS3 memory card adapter, you can put your PS3 save onto a PS2 card, get past that point on a friend's PS2, then transfer it back to the PS3.

From what I've read up on it, the problem occurs with all models of the PS3 and the PS2 slimline.

I was able to circumvent the problem earlier today by finding a completed PS2 save file. From there, you just throw it in a folder on a USB drive labeled PS3/EXPORT/PSV/file, then plug the USB into your PS3, navigate to the memory card utility, and it will show up as a game save under USB. Just save it to a virtual memory card and you're set.

If anyone needs the game save, PM me with your email. It's under 200k.

Slimlines too, huh? Well, that's just sloppy. I guess I'll grab a save file whenever I start playing this. Thanks for the extra warning.

The game has a pretty shitty glitch near the end that fucked me over several times. At least I was finally able to get past that part due to sheer luck that it didn't occur.

Well, I beat the game last night. There was one other spot where the game hung up, but I just exited and started in to the next chapter.

Having finished, I can only describe the game as a hybrid of The Matrix and Dark City.

This game must be really good considering how much trouble you went to beat it. I should locate my sealed Xbox copy I bought years ago (based on strength of Quantic's first game: Omikron).

Alas, the 60gb is still only 99% backward compatible. Too many system calls in that game, which is why it amazed the piss out of me that they got it to work on 360- even available on their download service for 15$. Great game, though, and excellent thinking for a workaround.

To play devil's advocate, I felt it was overhyped and didn't bother to finish the game (a rarity with me)

It's basically a Simon Says minigame pasted over an intriguing occult story that takes a unncessary cliche scifi twist about a quarter of the way through.

I had the same issues with the 60GB. None of the ps3's are fully BC, and they haven't done any large software updating to correct the errors lately.

I've not heard of any issues with it on the slimline. According to Sony, it isn't on the list of PS2 games incompatible with the silver one.
