Intec Xbox 360 Elite Turbo Cooler $20 at Buy.com

First, for those Xbox'ers out there, does this item (Intec Xbox 360 Elite Turbo Cooler ) work well?

If you can get another item to lift the price to $25, buy should waive the $6 shipping.[/QUOTE]

The major problem with the Nyko cooler was the pass-through for power and noise.

It looks to be powered by its own adaptor. I'm certain it can't hurt because it will just blow hot air outward, but you might not get great results because the fans might be too weak.

I wouldn't buy that shit because the 360 is a piece of junk that will fail anyways, but I'm sure the Intec Cooler will make it slightly less hot than it is now :)

For experimental purposes, I would think about buying it at $10 to $15 and hook it up to a thermal sensor.

the old intercooler is suppose to cool the system down a bit, the problem was that it melted the power port. I dont see how it is a bad to lower the temperature for $20. Here is a chart of the old intercooler

I still don't see how these really help anything.

It seems like having 2 fans blowing in front of each other isn't really going to help all that much. It seems like a design to help push cool air in on the intake side MIGHT help, but just putting more fans in the back (and any turbulence/etc that design would incur) doesn't seem like it'll actually keep the system any cooler.

I've never seen any evidence having these helps anything, anyway. Just a way to play on people's fears. You don't think Intec/etc would have "Drops temps by as much as 10 degrees!!" or something with pictures of a thermal probe if they actually worked? (Edit: Ok, see the post above me for proof I don't know everything. ;) Although measuring externally, with only a minor drop in most temps, doesn't seem THAT exciting, really.)

Given that MS has said use of these things voids the warranty (i.e., if your system dies, don't say "I put an intercooler on it and everything!") it seems like a waste of money.

The old intercoolers were BAD for your 360. Like someone previously said, it ended up melting the power port, etc, and essentially did more worse than good, because the intercooler was drawing power from the 360, making some parts of the 360 not function as well. It's your choice if you want to buy an intercooler or not, HOWEVER, there is no real need for one.

I play 7+ hours if I have time on the weekends, and my 360 does not get fried. As long as you take good care of your 360, it will be fine. Just don't let it get cramped up with other stuff, like your DVD player and other devices. If it's out in the open, it will be fine. There's no need to spend $20 on something that is really only used for hardcore all-night gaming.

The numbers show an improvement, but the chips may be too far above thermal range to make a difference. The problem is I don't know the answer to that question. Apparently, neither did / does MS :)

Even without looking at the chart, the Intec Cooler will help because hot air will be exhausted at a faster rate from the the 360, but it's actual value can't really be determined because the build quality from one 360 to another has too much variance.

Like I suggested, for $15, I would be intrigued to buy it out of curiousity. $10 and I couldn't help myself :)

It's too bad the fan stats are nowhere to be seen. I would like to see the temp diff. when using a set of superior (probably louder) fans.

I always wondered how one of those laptop coolers would perform.

I'd lie.
