So my ipod video doesn't produce any sound when plugged in through the dock when headphones are plugged in. Everything else seems like it is working.

I think it maybe a simple connection issue inside, but i don't even know where to begin to open it.....after googling i found a place called rapid repair that seems reputable...(anybody have experience with them?)

http://www.rapidrepair.com/contact.htm

Looking to see what options i have on where to send it in... I'm guessing apple charges a bunch to fix it.

and i've had it for a while... so its not under warrenty.

so any ideas ?

Half the fun of an ipod is carrying it around, ignoring everything around you, and being trendy.

hello and welcome to a couple years ago when it was cool to make fun of ipods.

anyway, OP is that an ipod sound system? it sounds like you just need to unplug the headphones, haha. sorry, i can't be of any other help..

well the ipod itself i get no sound.... either docked in a sound system, or by itself through the headphone jack.

It really sucks.. since the main reason i got it.. is so i could hook it up in my car.. makes the commute to work so much better.

(for my car, i can replace the cd changer with an ipod, so it works through the car stereo and can be contolled through the car stereo controls as well..don't have to worry about extra wires or fm modulation)

I actually have the same problem. The only solution I've seen so far seems to be to get headphone jack replaced which seems to cost around $80 bucks. I'm hoping I can find a cheaper solution tho.

Doesn't Apple still have trade in plan thing? I'm not sure what the working odrer that they had to be in but they used to have that program where you'd trade in for a newer version at less cost. May cost more than it does to repair it though I dunno as I never used it.

Yeah totally, I love not being able to hear the moronic rantings of my fellow humans, long live the Ipod.

Get it repaired or get a new one, or next time you go to the store do you want to listen to the cell-phone babblings of Joe Toss-bag and Jenny CouldIcareless.

I think theres ipod repair sites that'll fix it for much cheaper. the guys in the apple stores know about them. Personally after my current ipod goes the way of the dodo and I sell my iMac, I'm gonna go straight open source (mp3 player and laptop).
