I have to assume something else is happening here. It's just a guess, but maybe they were lied to and told they would serve near their homes in fallujah? It's not like this is a new concept in Iraq. I would be very suprised if they just assumed that without having anyone tell them that was the case, or at least they were told things that lead them to assume that.
Though I also have to wonder why everyone is laughing when their performance will determine the future of Iraq.
