Yeah, I remember in GTA 3, one mission had you killing an undercover cop named Tanner and the car he drove looked a lot like the car Tanner drove in Driver 1. Silly if you ask me, why can't these polygons just get along.

The source from the police have inforemd Asuka that one of there drivers
is a 'Strangely' animated undercover cop. You must make him bleed. He
takes his car home every day, you must follow him and eliminate him.
 
If the reviews are any indication Atari should have spend more time tweaking the game rather than tweaking Rockstar.

yeah dont for get he's "pretty useless outside of his car". :)

It was GTA3, if you destroy his car he jumps out and runs down the streets like a retarded monkey. And frankly in a war between Atari and R*, Atari will die in a bloody headless heap. The last 2 Drivers together couldnt add up to GTA3 on it's worst day. The out of the car engine for Driver 2 felt tacked on and the driving was sucktacular. So far the only reviews I've heard on Driv3r (horribly named if you ask me) are BAD reviews.
 
See...this is the kind of thing the video game industry needs...little pokes and jabs at one another to inspire some really funny shit. Kinda like we do here on the boards.

This isn't new. Enix did it w/ I believe dragon warrior, where they had a grave w/ some one named Link on it. Coincidence??? I THINK NOT!!!
 
I heard that you killed "Nick Kang" (True Crime guy) in one of Vice City's assassin missions. I don't remember that, anyone confirm?

Vice City came out before True Crime, so doubtful. Did you mean San Andreas?

Yeah, and Link from the Matrix (2 & 3)...his name was completely not a coincidence either. Every use of the name Link in all of history was hinting at LoZ.
 
isnt Driver just a crappy version of GTA?? ... that screenshot looks alot like GTA. with the little map thing at the bottom, and the stats at the top are even similar.

No, that was Final Fantasy Origins. In the psx version that grave says something like 'May Link rest in peace'.

In the NES version it was soething along the lines of 'Here lies Erdrick (the guy from Dragon Warrior 3).


Here is another game that does a similar concept.

Bart's Nightmare (SNES) During the level where Bart is being Godzilla, people are throwing Sega Genesis systems at him. I still don't know if they throw SNES's at him in the Genesis version.

No, I mean Vice City. I think it either "Loose Ends" or "Autocide". Nothing on GameFAQs bothers to list the guys names in the walkthrough. I heard about it when True Crime came out but it had been so long since I had done this missions I couldn't remember if it was true or not.

There was no Nick Kang in Autocide (though there is a Dick Tanner) and Loose Ends has you stealing a suitcase from a syndicate of suited guys and flying it to the helipad at the airport.

I will give you that GTA3 and Vice City beat the hell out of the Drivers, but Rockstart makes no other good games, except for maybe Max Payne. Red Dead Revolver is mediocre, but Manhunt, State of Emergency, etc. those are just bad and get by on the Rockstar name.
 
I never said that, but I do believe that Rockstar gets far more credit than they are due. They have a few gems, but for the most part they release shitty games that sell millions because they have the Rockstar name and are "mature". But yeah, Atari releases a lot of crap too.
 
Atari Gets by on just names. If they hadnt swooped up the Atari name then whatever teh hell company it was would probably be gone by now.

This is pretty funny stuff though.
