Is it worth buying an Xbox 360 now?

i was curious whether it would be worth buying an Xbox 360 in the next month or so.

i would buy one now, but it would be disappointing if a week later Microsoft dropped the price, since Sony recently dropped the price of the PS3.

is it really worth it or do you think i should wait a while?
 
Wait. I really, really expect a price drop.. and it's been speculated and somewhat confirmed by people in the gaming industry.

Logically speaking, it does make the most sense. People can't complain about the insane price on the PS3 anymore. The new Slim is equally priced with a current 360 Pro, and it is pretty obvious then which is the better bang for your buck. However, it's been said that Microsoft is phasing out the Pro and just running with the Elite and Arcade--the Elite priced at $299, and the Arcade at $199. I personally think that the price drop has to be more than that for Microsoft to remain competitive, especially if the specs on the current Elite stay the same. When producers become competitive, consumers win, so just stick it out. I'm hoping they drop the Arcade to some insane price like $149 or better yet, $129 or something. Yeah, it's a huge drop, but does it really make sense to have a bare bones unit be only $100 cheaper than a fully loaded unit?
 
the 360 elite already got a price drop, but i was leaning towards getting an arcade, but buying an arcade would quite literally be getting ripped off for more memory.
