Is there a downside to leaving my DSiware games and points on my DSi when I sell it?

Title says it all. I'm thinking I might be able to get a bit more for my DSi with software and points left on it, but I want to make sure I wouldn't be putting myself at risk in any way. I don't think I ever used my CC to buy points on it. I would disconnect my Club Nintendo account from the DSi before selling. Thanks.

i dont think your credit card is hooked to you dsi.. your just going to lose all of the money you put into the games

i doubt many will pay that much more for games on the system. how many games do you have on the system and why did you stack points on to the system before you even needed them.

Nintendo does not allow the option on either DSi or Wii to save credit card information (or really much of anything else) so you're fine there. I think you'll be fine if that's what you want to do.

Thanks. I didn't put any money into it, actually-- I bought the DSi at launch, and it included 1000 free DSi points, of which I only ever spent 500.

Just sold it for 115 on Amazon, which isn't bad... Good to know I'm safe.

I'm happy with the DS emulation on 3DS, so I felt comfortable selling it.

I'm pretty sure those 1,000 expired a long time ago. Either they did or the window for getting them did.

Either way you'll lose out on whatever was on the system, which doesn't sound like a big deal for ya.

The window for getting them did -- I still have 500 points in the shop account. I did unlink the system from my Club Nintendo account.

By the way, I'd like to use this opportunity to say how much I dislike the matte finish on the DSi. It's the weirdest thing- feels like a chalkboard. So nice to be back to sweet sweet gloss with the 3DS.

Complete opposite for me. I can't understand why anyone likes glossy. But at least the 3DS isn't a fingerprint magnet like PSP. *shudder*

My DS Lite is glossy crimson top and flat black bottom. I do think the flat surface is more convenient when holding it up in air during gameplay. My fingers do feel "oily" when holding my 3DS like that but since steadiness is a must for 3D gameplay, I keep my 3DS on top of pillows placed on my lap and that "oily" sensation is pretty negligible.

If one gets too distracted by the slippery feel of the glossy surface, wear gloves. ;)
