I never really noticed until lately that some people seem really into steelbooks. I'm not a huge lotr fan but I'd like to watch them all in HD, do steelbook things tend to hold value ? Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this. PS it's availiable to preorder from futureshop canada's website.

of course its valuable. $57 seem to be fair price or $19 per film.
If you want to watch the movies, it does seem like a decent deal. Steelbooks are generally collectible, but with LotR it may be tricky.
From what I gather, these are the theatrical releases. But real fans would hold out for the extended editions anyway, so I wonder if collectors would be interested in this initial release.

There is talk online that the directors cut will be out by the end of the year.
Also, the review I read of The Fellowship of the Ring bluray said that the picture quality was inconsistent. It would go from really good to average. Hopefully this is cleaned up by the time the directors cut comes out.
