Ok, so i just bought foo fighters "In Your Honor" today and i had read on CAG that there was software you had to install to run it on your computer. Well i found that to be true(it says so on the back of the cd case) so i went home and decided to boot it up with my limited account, just to c what would happen. And it came up u dont have enough privlidges(sp?) to run this... So i booted iTunes anyway and sure enough i could rip the disc through that w/o the fbi software that u supposedly need to run it on ur computer. Good job fbi, you just got fooled by a 13 year old

[quote name='eldad9']FBI? You mean RIAA, don't you?

Nice job supporting these scumbags financially. How about just choosing to purchase non-RIAA music instead?

He's talking about the "FBI protection" or whatever the hell is on CD's. You know, the shit that can be turned off by holding shift.

Oh no, I just helped a 10 year old out with copying a Nelly CD.

You mean the malware that windows happily auto-installed by default, makes the product not an actual CD - do not refer to these as CDs because they do not adhere to the red book standard - and has nothing to do with the FBI?

Oh, by the way, I outwitted the president of the united states by buying a large pack of M&Ms, which is cheaper per oz. What a stupid president!

You see the tiny flaw in my argument? What I did has nothing to do with the president of the united states, just like what the OP did has nothing to do with the FBI.

Wow great job! You are helping your little fella 13 year old pals. You're making a difference. Here's a pat on your back. You're making a big difference. You're a genius.

I'm not saying this is the most retarted topic I've ever read, but this is the most retarted thread I've ever read. There I said it.

That's funny. Today I went to the mall and bought a t-shirt. Hahaha - stupid EPA - it shows you how smart they are...

I tried ripping a CD the other day... but it was too thick. All I could do was break it in half. Damn FBI...

To tell you the truth, I didnt understand the original post. I read it twice and it made no sense to me.

Of course, I dont use Itunes and I dont know what the RIAA is. I'm old school- I go to the store and buy my cds there and play them on my cd player.

OK, here's what's going on.

The RIAA ("music companies") is very upset since it seems some people are using "the internet" to share music.

So they decided to make products that look like CDs, but are actually hybrid software slash music discs which aren't really CDs.

The software is supposed to prevent ripping, and they're relying on the fact that by default windows auto-runs stuff found on CDs without even prompting the user. This is a security flaw in windows, and is very very bad.

It seems that on the OP's system, either the software wasn't installed, or it was installed but didn't function properly.

That's how he outwitted the feds.

there.is.no.space.in.my.name

It is not composed of two or more words.

And you couldn't even pronounce it. Maybe I should pick an earth-name?

That both of us have done this "you've misspelled something as [what you should have said instead]"? got it. Thank you for pointing it out.

Oh yeah, and for whoever asked, RIAA stands for "Recording Industry Association of America".
