YMCA changed their name to simply "the Y". Fairly inane since they are forever linked with the Village People song.

Forever tied to the village people song? I have been going to the y since I was a kid till now and after 30 years of going there I never relate it to that song, and I like the song.

I have never once heard anyone ever call it but the "The Y". No one around here calls it the ymca.

Apparently the Village People are not too happy about this news but they are still going to preform the YMCA song.

Yeah, but seriously, if they want to keep the song accurate, they could just do like the extra verses of B-I-N-G-O and be like "It's fun to stay at The Y *clap* *clap* *clap*", haha. Or hell, take the opportunity to make your song fresh again by rewriting and adding new lyrics. "It's fun to stay at The Y every day." Bam! Problem solved. Village People, I assume my check is in the mail.
