Info

Q: What is it?

A: An awesome collection of PS2 platformers starring Jak and Daxter, made by Uncharted developers Naughty Dog. It has been given the usual HD treatment of other PS2 ports and the final effort seems to be pretty good.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Practically nothing! A mere pittance of $40 for a retail disc, or if DD is your bag, $15 for each game or $40 for the bundle of all three.

Q: Are there trophies?

A: Of course. For those that hunt these, there are many to shoot for and each game has its own shiny Platinum.

Q: Why should I get it?

A: Dunno. If you dig platformers, trophies, collecting things, Naughty Dog or if you want to reminisce on your original playthroughs, then it seems like a no brainer. These HD ports make them much more playable on newer TVs and it is great to have them all on one disc, or bootable right from the XMB. Oh, and they are pretty fun too.

I loved the original Jak and Daxter. It was probably the first game I played that had a large, seamless, load time free environment. This is the game that actually made me go "wow" when I saw how big the world was. Awesome game. Followups were good too, but by then the "wow" was just normal. The power of the PS2 baby!

I absolutely adored the first game! So much so that I bought Jak II the very day it came out with what little money I had!

Oh, with what joy and anticipation I looked forward to that game!

I have never played a Jak and Daxter game since. I remember seething rage at various sections of that game, eventually leading to giving up on it after attempting an escape from an ambush.

Jak III and some sort of racing game came out, but I ignored them. Because Jak II was far too much of a kick in the ball sack for me to consider supporting the series beyond that point.

/IF/ there's some sort of easy mode or tweak to the difficulty of the second game in this collection, I might pick it up. Is that the case?

I actually had the exact same experience, down to buying it on launch with what little cash I had saved up at the time.

I always did want to go back to it someday and see if I felt any different. This collection will give me that opportunity, as well as finally trying Jak 3, which I have heard is more of a blend of the first two.

I can say that I am very much enjoying the first one again. The game has held up pretty well surprisingly.
