DUBAI (Reuters) - Arab satellite television Al Jazeera said on Friday it would broadcast a video tape from al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden addressing the American people.

It said the tape, to be aired at 4 p.m. EDT, would discuss the reasons behind the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States and their repercussions. It gave no further details.
Link, but no further story yet.

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
- G.W. Bush, 9/13/01

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."
- G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts,
3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)

You left out the kicker.

"I just don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kind of one of those exaggerations."
- G.W. Bush, trying to refute Kerry who accurately quoted him

Sadly, some of the shit he says is completely true. You know your president sucks when some accusations made by a terrorist are 100% true. Such as:

“I never thought that the supreme leader would leave 50,000 of his people in the two towers to face the terrifying events alone at the time they were in need for him.”

and

"He accuses President Bush of “misleading” the American people for the three years since the Sept. 11 attacks."

It's pretty sad when fucking OSAMA BIN LADEN is more truthful than our goddamn president.

The Republicans will say he is for Kerry and you can have that, the Democrats say "You haven't gotten" Bin laden yet...

yadda yadda

Going to be a long next 4 days.

Bin Laden is the bad guy, he's the one trying to kill us for no reason, not Bush.

I'm sorry and I said to myself that I wouldn't post in this forum anymore, but damn this is just stupid. I don't mean any offense, but especially that first quote, and by your banter I take it that you agree with bin Laden. How foolish can you be? Did you expect Air Force One to fly into NY during on 9/11 during the attacks or something? I mean when there's a freaking terrorist attack or attack of any kind even remotely close to the president several men and women sacrifice their life to get him out of harm's way as quickly and as far away as humanly possible. Why in god's green Earth would they then take him to New york during the attacks and potentially place him in harm's way? That's just stupid logic, no president ever I don't care who he is or what you think about him would be allowed to do that. I thought must people could see through bin Laden's crappy terrorist propoganda but I was clearly wrong. It is pretty sad...it's pretty sad that people think a killer talking nonsense like that is so easily believed. If I somehow misinterpreted then I apoligize in advance, but I take it that's what bin Laden's comments meant and you seemed to agree.

Yep people will back up some ridicolous statements if they support one of their beliefs. I like how people are taking Bin Laden's word for gospel. I have my issues with W too but I think I like him a little bit better than a nutjob who killed thousands of americans.

Wow if this bugs you you better pray that Kerry isn't voted president. He waffled on issues so much while he was in the senate that I think he needed to keep notes on where he stood on the issues on any given day.

Duo Maxwell, you are an idiot. Where did I say he should have gone to New York in the Air Force One? What he SHOULD have done was stopped fuckING READING A CHILDREN'S BOOK TO KIDS AND DONE SOMETHING. Something like TALK to the people who told him of the attacks instead of stalling like the moron he is. Bin Laden obviously didn't mean it in the way you're saying he did. He's not an idiot like you. Yes, he's a terrorist and an asshat, but he's not stupid.

Of course.
I still can't believe the Dems have not made a commercial about this.
Pussies. The Republicans would have created a fucking 3-D movie if a democratic president responded as Bush did.

My favorite Kerry campaign response to the OBL video was from Richard Holbrooke.

http://www.salon.com/politics/war_r...itics/war_room/2004/10/29/binladen/index.html

The video, Holbrooke told Wolf Blitzer, "raises the troubling question about why this grotesque mass murderer is still out there" thumbing his nose at America. As Blitzer tried to counter by pointing out that polls show most Americans think Bush will do a better job of protecting them against terrorism, Holbrooke quickly shot back, "If Bush is so much more effective, why is bin Laden still on the loose?"

I may have taken a straight forward interpretation (I still say that's what he meant why else did he reference 50,000 as opposed to the whole nation?), but talking to the peolpe in Florida who very first informed him of an attack wouldn't have done anything to help the 50,000 people that bin Laden was talking about either. How old were the kids in that room? Is he going to start talking about death and terrorism to them? He was as powerless as you or me at that moment. What goo dis even holding a press conference at the point? What's he going to say? That he doesn't know anything yet, because that would be all he could say. You saw what he did as stalling for time, I saw it as keeping the deaths of thousands of people off the minds of a room full of children. I suppose we'll agree to disagree, but does it all really matter? I mean I'm pretty sure the last thought on the minds of the 50,000 people bin Laden mentioned was the location of George Bush or what he was doing at the time. I still see bin Laden's comment as a cheapshot to turn more people against George Bush.

And I keep hearing people like Cheapy say "Why don't they make an ad?" Personally, I think the reason is the hole democrats have dug. They've been complaining about Bush & Co using 9/11 for politcal gain for awhile now (which is true they've invoked it for the sympathitc votes). You can't claim this all this time and then go and do it yourself, unless you really want to play up to the role of "the flip-flopper" as so many have painted Kerry already. Why would they give them another chance (and it would be a truthful one this time) to play that card? A 527 group could do it I suppose, but with all the ads flying into swing states most people don't even know the difference anymore I'm sure.

Thanks for being civil about it, dude. It's appreciated. I have a bad temper sometimes, so excuse me if I say bad things.

Anyway, he wouldn't had to have talked about it in front of the kids. Couldn't he have just said, "Excuse me, kids. I'll be back in a few minutes." and left the room to discuss it further? That's pretty much common sense to me.

Guess what? Kerry and other congressmen sat around stunned for over half an hour following the attacks. Do some research before you criticize, then you won't end up looking so foolish.

Don't be foolish by trying to make the actions of senators and congressmen in a time of crisis equivalent to that of the president.

We should have 7 minutes of silence, to show what an eternity that is when the biggest attack on American soil ever is in progress. Not after the fact, IN PROGRESS.

Sorry, I don't buy the argument that "It would scare the children." It would scare the children? To just get up and leave? Is the risk of scaring some children more important than the lives of Americans?

Damn right. WTF are the senators gonna do compared to the president?

Can anyone imagine any other recent president sitting there for seven long minutes not knowing the extent to which the US was attacked? Reagan wouldn't have, Bush Sr. wouldn't have. Hell, Clinton would have been on Air Force One getting a hummer while listening to the briefing in the time Bush was waiting to find out what happened to the goat.

Bush was waiting for someone to tell him what to do which either means he's stupid or too scared. Neither of those scenarios make me comfortable with him as President.
