I'll add more to this later on, if you feel anything needs to be added please post it and I'll edit this post.
Has anyone here played this game yet? If so, how is it? I've been wanting to get Jump Superstars but never got around to it. I see that Ultimate Stars has more characters and online play which is cool.

Also which is the better place to order Ultimate Stars from, Play-Asia or ncsx?
I'm waiting for BB to get it so I can throw a GGC on this bad boy. The first one was awesome.

I was bout to order it when I realized its already out the other day, but I've been spending way too much money on video game shit lately and not enough time using it. Hell I don't even have a Wii yet but I've been stocking up. I'll save Ultimate Stars for the next drought, I'll also want to wait until a translation guide hits the web.

It is $44.99 with free shipping and no tax at yesasia

There is a decent guide on gamefaqs already.

I might pick it up if I ever see it at my local Best Buy. I saw the 1st game there and thought about picking it up, but then I remember a new one was coming out.

I thought I've seen it at the Sunnyvale CA BB. It was labelled as an import and was $49.99. I could be mistaken that it could have been the first Jump because I normally don't frequent that BB regularly nor am I familiar with that series. It just caught my eye because of the Japanese cover and import label.

Got my copy today!

Here's a few of the changes.

-The biggest change is that you now evolve Komas rather then earn them. Each fight gives you points that you can now spend to buy Komas. You need to buy the 4 block fighting koma before the 5 and so forth though. Also you can buy abilities for that koma (but I haven't looked at a guide yet to find out what they do).

-R/L are now hot triggers for two support/battle komas of your choosing.

-You choose a leader for each fight. Each KO by the leader gets +2, but if the leader is KOed it's -2.

-Mini games! Simple things like gather the most coins or collect all 7 Dragonballs, but it's still neat to see them.

-Villians are playable. The only one I've seen so far is Freiza though.

-New match types and online. I haven't tested this out yet though.

Ok, back to the game!

Sounds like fun, I ordered the game off of playasia last night. We should start a friend code list too.

Just beat the story mode. Now going back to unlock the rest. It's nice that they've taken out the guess work of the unlock system. Sadly one of the neatest new features, a trivia mini game, will be experienced by about three people in the US because of the language barrier.

This game is the shit! Wi-fi is a definte blast and the main reason anyone should pick up this game! There's a translation guide already on gamefaqs that's pretty much good for the completing the single player stuff. No translations for what the characters say, but the multi-player is hellishly fun!
difficult to get the license to all the characters
I'd say it would be impossible to get all of the licenses here in the US.

You would see Super Mario Bros on the 360 before you'd see Jump Superstars in the U.S.

I don't know about that. They could pull some madness with Viz and liscence the manga only. The only tough one to pull in would be DBZ since Funimation has seperate trademarks on everyone else.

The lack of english doesn't make a big difference at all. The gameplay is easily accessible. It's worth the money to be honest.

Eh, it kind of does. Especially when you're trying to unlock all the little objectives.

GameFAQs.com has a nice translation FAQ for it though.

I haven't played either. But I am curious about getting this game. So here's my question.

Should I get part 1 first and if I like, get 2 later down the line? Or, skip one and go for part 2?

I would get part 2 right away...but I can get 1 for about 25 used; which is about half the price difference.

Thanks.

Get part 2. Part 1 doesn't have the wi-fi and you'll get pretty lonely (and bored) playing all by yourself.

Well after a little bit, you can figure out what the objectives are. It all depends on whether you have to knock out a character, how you do it, how much health you have, etc. But yeah, I use the guide when I'm stuck. Still, it's still pretty easy to get around.
Thanks for the response ahmed. However, I don't have the wifi adapter and don't really plan on getting it anytime soon.
I had the same dilemma as you. I went with JUS instead of JS. JUS has a bigger character list, improved game play, and wifi. Now I can't get broadband where I live, but I can play wifi at my friends house in town. If you have a friend who has wifi, or if you have some wifi spots around where you live, definitely get the second game.

*edit*
Also there are $5 off $50, $10 off $60, and $15 off $100 coupon codes for www.play-asia.com in this thread. http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65772

Bah, the game hasn't came in yet... For those of you who ordered from play-asia, about how many shipping days did it take to get to you?

I would honestly say that the christmas mail is causing your delay. Did they give you a tracking number?

I would personally blame the christmas season man.

Yea I know that's the reason why it is taking longer, I'm just wanting to get an idea on how long it took for those who ordered the game at launch (with standard shipping btw).

As does IGN, which provides all the little things a normal Gamfaqs FAQ lacks, such as pictures and sentence structure.

I'm getting in my copy sometimke next week.
Is anyone here interested in doing a CAG only Jump Ultimate Stars tournament?
For all four of us that have the game? Sure. I still need to learn how to spam Death Note characters though. It'll also take you a few weeks to build up a decent deck.

Yeah, I think there might be more than just four of us though. The game came in last Friday and I've been playing it quite a bit so far. I still have a lot of characters I need to unlock.

Do you know if we can do 2 on 2 fights or is it always free for all?

I hate to bump an old thread, but I have a question.

I imported JSS on launch and loved it. I now see Amazon has someone selling this game for 53 bucks after shipping- convenient since I have a GC there I need to use.

Anyway, I want to buy it, but I have a question about mechanics.

Do you still have to piece your koma together like JSS? If it wasn't for a little bug/exploit in JSS that allowed you to determine what the koma with a hole in it was from (manga series) I would've been lost.

Thanks. I loved JSS and I'm hoping I'll love JUS just as much.

Bump for answers, and also a link to a translation walkthrough... I can't seem to find one.

Thanks for your time.

Hey guys, I finally got this game, my friend code is:
