Just got back into Oblivion. Why can't I be bad?

When I played Morrowind back on Xbox, I was a virtuous, stealthy cat race witch hunter. I always wanted to try a warrior that just ran in and killed stuff, looting everything and killing anyone who got in his way. Well, I tried that with Morrowind. I called myself "Doomsayer", and created a pretty strong character. I'm able to beat any guard who tries to take me in. The thing is, once I kill anyone in this game, or steal anything, the guards are always hounding me.

Now, I understand "What did you expect?". But I was wondering, even if I toned it down, is Oblivion really a game where you can play a crook who isn't sneaky?

Crime doesn't pay. Your wanted! Take em out or pay the fine. Or work for the theives guild and become the gray fox. But sme sit happens all the pople will be after you with the mask on. So I guess the answer is no. You can be a kick ass warrior and a theif just dont do it where other people can see you.
