Which one should I buy? I heard the first had this mode where you could just go and roll everything up, which sounds like a lota fun, but what do they both have to offer?

Thanks

they're pretty much the same exact game, almost. so it doesn't really matter to be honest. I've played them both, both are excellent. I would recommend starting off the the first one. just makes sense to do so. You get a better feel for W

I prefer the first one i didn't really finish the second one didn't find it as entertaining specially story wise

i like the first one more, i dunno just the feel of the game. the second one is fun too, but its more like "oh these are some extra stages we should have put in the first one but didnt" kinda thing.

dont get me wrong, i love both games, but the first one is just more appealing to me. the music and graphics are pretty much the same in both, so no need to worry about those, if anything, get the first because its cheaper.

the first one is like a real game with a real storyline 'a wierd one' :)

the second is like a let down almost cause its just so aimless you just walk around and like they said do meaningless levels like a bonus that shouldve been on the first game.

I say toss a coin since both are really good. The first is like a good bagel. The second one is like a bagel with a little more goodness. You can't loose either way. Both are great.

I prefer the second one due to the variety of levels. The first one repeats the same couple of levels too many times.

Apparently I am the only one here that liked the second more. It had more stages and more interesting goals IMO. The first did have a superior soundtrack though.

My question is when the hell is We Love Katamari going to get a price drop? My Best Buy has had a like 10+ copies of this game since forever and no one is buying them. I refuse to pay more than $20 for this game.

Now hold on! The second is better but when it comes to someone asking which one to get the original is the clear answer. It is ten bucks cheaper, is the original so he'd be playing it in order and if he hates it we saved him ten bucks. Yeah, I know I said ten bucks twice, but this is Cheap Ass Gamer.

Isn't the MSRP $25? That's pretty good. I got it for $15 the week it came out, on sale.

I would go with the first. Although the second has some more variety to level design and more levels, I much prefer the feel of the first. As other have mentioned it has more of a story, which no matter how amazingly nonsensical is still better then no story at all.

I like the second one as well, but I love the 2nd game's soundtrack better due to it's epicness and veriety.

Either game would be a good choice as both are extremely fun. The first has a story, though most of the game is just reaching a goal that's a little larger than the last one. We Love Katamari takes more time to beat and there's a lot more variety to the levels and missions and I enjoyed it more for that. Plus, each person that asks for something usually has another goal that can be a little harder. Playing the first could give you more appreciation for the sequel.

The second one is really a "Namco basically left the creator with no choice but to make a sequel even though he really didn't want to do one at all" kind of game.
Just get the first one. Not only is it $10 cheaper but it had the original passion of the creator in it. The second one can be acquired after if you decide you want more.

...and improved on it in every way. Dude did a great job, regardless of whether his heart was in it.

Get the first game first.

The second game has sharper textures and there's more variety to the levels (it's prettier), but it's mostly just a series of tiny themed "arenas" (garden level, snow level, school level, campsite level, racetrack level, etc.).

The first game has more "epic" levels that are very carefully designed to take advantage of the large landscape. It's all one world, and the levels cover more ground. You get to see how it all VERY carefully connects together. But the levels in the second game are usually too small and short.

It's a great game, don't get me wrong -- rolling up the sumo wrestler never gets old -- but you can tell the developers were slightly less inspired the second time around. Still, I love rolling up all the international landmarks... awesome.

The music for the second game has some really good tracks, but most of it is just white noise, pops, and random yelling. When I got the soundtrack I thought my CD was skipping.
