Laptop Computer

I am looking for a deal on a 13.3", 1-2 gb of ram, 80+ hd, dvd+-RW, accelerated graphics (ATI or Nvidia), USB ports, Firewire (preferably) , wireless LAN, and LAN port Laptop for UNDER 1000 dollars.

My recent computer just suffered from CPU failure (it was a piece of crap anyway) and it is time for a new one. I am not even sure if this is possible. I am hoping promotions can save the day. The lowest I have found is like 1800 dollars, so to find it for under 1000 would AMAZING to say the least. If anyone can do it. It is you guys.

Thank you.

Are you hinting at the sony sz or something. I dont know of many 13.3 notebooks. The sz is one of the few smaller notebooks that have deticated vid cards. The newer ones will have geforce 8400 in them, but they are pricey.

Basically, I need a laptop that is extremely portable. I was kindof hinting at the Sony SZ, but it doesn't have to that. I realized it was really tough, and I think I am going to expand the search for a 14.1 wide screen. I have a 15.4 laptop right now, that is quite old, 8lbs, it is just so big and clunky. My friend has a 15.4 that is much newer, but it to is still pretty big and heavy.

Bottom line anything that is very portable is good, I checked out the 14.1 widescreen seems small enough going to look for a cheap one of those too.

With Core 2 Duo? Impossible. This kind of laptop starts at around $1200-$1300 with minimal components.

Even Santa Rosa based 14.1's start at around $1,000. HP's new dv2500t is pretty good, 14'1". Here's a coupon code for 15% off: NB6444.

Before you buy it, search the site for the APP (Academic Purchase Program) if you're a college student. You can get another $50 or so off the price.

If you can spend maybe $100 or $200 more, get a ThinkPad. T61 or R61. It's much more durable. They're having a 25% off sale right now.

Well, you can get an Apple MacBook configured like this:

2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1GB Memory
80 Gig HD
Combo Drive (cd burner, dvd reader)
built in wireless/bluetooth, the whole 9 yards

for $999 if you use the student discount. admitted it's integrated graphics, but it's a great piece of hardware for the price. (price without student discount is like $1,099 i think)
