launch day is a school day wth
why would microsoft do this that is horrible now i cant go to launch to get my 360 thnx alot microsoft
I think that tuesday will be one of the biggest skip days this school year. Or since some stores are opening early just go before school.

Because the Xbox 360 is geared towards working adults or adults in college...... so skipping class or work isn't an issue........ I mean, for $400, how many kids in highschool or younger can afford it vs how many adults can afford it

Conveniently I have an exam on the 22nd. Hopefully I can find a midnight release and then cram for a few hours beforehand...

Microsoft wants to avoid the risk of being sued by the families of trampled children or by those who become ill after waiting outside all night in november.

Sort of like November 9, 2004.

Well, I got 2 college exams that day (both in the morning). At the latest Ill be done by 11. My english class is cancelled that day and my Psych class is just going over notes so Ill skip that class. Ill have my have my 360 in my hands by 11:30am

I don't think money is his problem dude, he's not going to be able to get one at launch because he has school that day and his parents probably force him to go.

what a wonderful country we live in... where a video game console takes precedence over education.
Shouldn't most HS students be on there thanksgiving break by then?
I think the break starts on the 23rd.. it's going to suck because on the 22nd, that's my long day.. two criminal justice classes and a sociology class.. i may just skip, I dunno yet.

Hey I can pick up your 360 if you want me to ;)

Oh i'm picking it up at midnight. It's just going to suck coming home and going right to bed then waking up at 8am and going to school until 5.

Im taking the first part of the morining off to get the 360 and then Im heading to school. When I sign into the main office and they ask me where I was, I'll say, "Getting the 360, duh!"

QFT. Pretty damn sad really.

What a wonderful country we live in... where people think that all education is solely book-knowledge and exclusively presented to you within the walls of a school.

You think skipping one day is going to ruin his chances at graduating/succeeding at life?

Down here, our break starts on the weekend of the 19th. We have the entire week off. So it looks like I won't need to skip so I can get my 360 early (hopefully). :D

If you preordered you have 24 hours to pick up the system, so the problem of skipping school to ensure your system isn't necessarily there. And if they happen to let go of your system early...well, in those cases you may have good luck being quite calm, asking for the manager, and discussing the issue with him and then further up the ladder if necessary (ie: manager doesn't care, sold your system and others regardless of preorder status, etc.).

If not, I would assume that a lot of people would tend to do what my brother did and hit local locations that are doing a Midnight Madness promo for the 360. As far as I know there's really no reason to be at those locations past 3 AM or so and, even if you were to rip open the box and play immediately, you still have a good two, three hours before school in most cases (assuming high school setting since college can do as far as five hours min. most of the time).

I just don't understand how skipping school is really even an issue. Most school districts will have the next day (Wednesday) off anyway or, failing that, Wednesday will end up being the typical "day before vacation" day where nothing actually happens. And if you really have to play that 360 the second you get it there's nothing wrong with an all-nighter, a bit of school, and if you really can't take the physical pressure you end up vomiting, passing out, hitting the nurse's office and getting carted home.

Man...the work ethic is dead.

Yeah, that was a good one.

Plus, if someone doesn't get a 360 at launch, it won't kill them.

Oh, shit... I've got a pain in my chest... and I'm blind in one eye... I can't feel my limbs...

Hold a place in line for me bro.:)

Ever think of going after class?

About 4 or 5 kids at school got Halo 2 at midnight...and they all ended up going to bed when they got home...instead of play Halo 2...its something I doubt I'll ever understand..
I took the whole week off from work. So I can't wait to get it. Muhwahwhahahaah
I have the whole week off from work too... however, I will be working on my thesis most likely.

A "BamBulance?" What is that? Some kind of random-ass ambulance from 'Chester County?

As did I......I work for the Spurs and they have a 2 game west coast trip that week so it's going to be pretty slow in the office.

the release day doesn't bother me. I'm done with classes at 9:30, go to work 30 minutes later, sell some xbox 360s, then pick up my pre-sale at work :)

it will be a fine day.

yeah money isnt the problem my parents wont let me skip to get an 360, but since i have to wait does any one know when 2nd shipments will show up ?

I just have 1 class on Tues. so I will still be picking mine up at midnight. Also my high school has off the whole week... Not sure why since last year when I was there we didnt start thanksgiving break until after Tues.

I'll skip school for you and sell you it for $550 shipped.

2nd shipment should come out day after Thanksgiving......hahahahaha "I'm just kidding"(SNL) If you don't get one at launch start preparing for Christmas if you're lucky. Most reports say anywhere between Jan - April. Good luck.

wow, the smartest thing anyone has said on this whole board :D

Here's my opinion, go to school.

Why? Simple, if you miss school you'll probably be unable to sleep and sleep in til 2pm or something. For me, school gets out at 1:51pm, so I'd still go if I was getting one (which I'm not)

i'm glad i'm on co-op and plus my boss is cool and I'll probably end up seeing a couple of people from my job in line lol
