So.. I ordered through the sale at Limited Run Games recently some stuffs.. and when I got my Rocket Knight Adventures SDCC Exclusive Switch game I noticed there isn't any special Holo/Foil effect & not numbered like the Persona or Felix the Cat games.. just has sticker says SDCC. Anyone else notice this ?

All jokes aside... they're saying every month starting in Oct, there'll be game specific stuff, starting with Skies of Arcadia. Gonna totally consider buying anything that semi interests me for Skies... Maybe Sega will see the royalties as a sign of interest and do something about it. That game deserves a modern release (at least the GC version does, the OG DC version was kinda hard).
I would be much more excited if they we working with Sega to release Skies of Arcadia on modern platforms.

Josh should use the Carbon Engine to bring the Dreamcast Web Browser, with an aged, hand stained, beige PS/2 keyboard (find your own adapter!) to modern consoles.

...or how about PSO?

I'm pretty sure that Rocket Knight was just an alternate convention cover that did not include holo/foil effect.

I was thinking the same thing when I got my copy

I hate this—Skies of Arcadia is probably the one property I’d splurge on today, though I already got the CD soundtrack last year so Josh can’t get me with that.

A Skies remaster of the bonus content from Legends + better sound/music quality from the OG/DC would be a day-one purchase for me, no question.

I appreciate the sentiment, I really do. And I’d be happy to pick up an updated Skies of Arcadia (and I might even splurge on getting it from LRG even with the long fulfillment times), but I’ve just grown so tired with the “spend money to show us how interested you are in the franchise” idea that companies try to push on us. I understand the idea, but the cynic in me just keeps seeing it as “spend money on this thing because it’s tangentially related to something you really do like and so we can double what we wring out of you.”

I would be happy even with a digital release of Skies of Arcadia. It's a game so good it should just be made available in perpetuity. I don't understand why SEGA is content to constantly push re-releases of Sonic games and yet let a gem like SoA languish. It hasn't had a port since the GameCube so it's LONG overdue.

Indeed it is a shame that skies of Arcadia hasn't had anything besides that cameo in valkyrie Chronicles 1 with notvyse and notaika.

Maybe this Skies of Arcadia Merch is a subtle hint that we could be getting an LRG Switch, PS5 & Xbox Physical copies announcement soonish? .. I'd buy 2 copies of that game -

If LRG were doing that one I would easily do a pre-order for sure. I'm sure this merchandise while being random other than an anniversary will lead to at least one game being re-released. At least I hope this happens cause I wont touch any of this merch.

I have very little nostalgia for the Dreamcast, but I guess that's cool for Dreamcast lovers.
I'm a Dreamcast lover with lots of nostalgia for the system. I bought it on 9/9/99, but I won't be buying any of this merchandise. It's another over hyped announcement from Josh that turned out to be disappointing.

How about releasing some new Dreamcast games instead? I know Josh once claimed all the after market games on Dreamcast are terrible. It was kind of surprising since he got his start as a small game developer. I would like to see him develop a game he thinks is good for Dreamcast.

I will say that it seems like the majority of new games for the dreamcast are either ports of existing games that can typically be played better elsewhere, giving them a "why bother" vibe, or games that in no way shape or form make you say "man, I'm glad they released that for dreamcast."

Outside of Nintendo published games, can't the same be said for Switch?

That said, there are a few, new Dreamcast exclusives that have been released. 'Driving Strikers' last year, 'Fragmented Almanac' earlier this year, 'HarleQuest!' later this year (also PC). Other games like 'Shadow Gangs' and 'Volgarr the Viking' are more or less parity with other versions on more powerful hardware.

VGP just put up a bunch more LRG releases this morning. I think we're really starting to pay the premium through VGP now. For example: Grandia Collection for Xbox, converted on VGP's website, is a little over $66USD. Without accounting for shipping on either site, but with my state's tax spread out amongst the games I ordered, I paid a little over $55 on LRG's site. The wait is comparable now too, since the regular editions are shipping from LRG now.

I don't have a point much beyond that I guess; just putting it out there.

Grandia HD was $55 from LRG, plus shipping and tax: https://limitedrungames.com/products/limited-run-544-grandia-hd-collection-ps4

On VGP it qualifies for free shipping and they don't charge tax.

Assuming tax is around 10% in your state and LRG hasn't upped their shipping charges again, you're really breaking even unless you're paying some kind of foreign transaction fee.

What annoys me about this situation is that I ordered Grandia HD collection and Contra OG for Xbox but I have not received my copies yet. Why are they not shipping out customer orders first instead of shipping large orders to retail partners. That is really frustrating.

this is why i no longer buy from LRG and just wait for the games to arrive at their partner store

I understand your reasoning but I'm still getting these game cheaper buying from them direct from LRG than ordering them from VGP.
Plus Grandia HD is already sold out at VGP so I would have missed out on it and I guarantee myself a copy preordering at LRG.

I will always be frustrated with business practices at LRG but I always get the games I order even if they take a while to ship them when they are in stock. Ship my fucking games already!

So far, no issues with me getting titles from LRG. I missed Contra and plumbers for Xbox so I ordered those. I got Grandia recently from LRG.

I bought Grandia from VGP earlier today, wasn't expecting such a quick sell-through. PNP will probably get copies soon if anyone's still looking.

My last order directly from LRG was January 2023, between the lack of tax, their rewards system, and free shipping everything ends up being cheaper for me through VGP and I don't have to deal with 6+ months of wait. Plus I can just use PayPal instead of having to put my credit card number in yet another payment system with PurpleDot. Good to have choices regardless of what your preference is.

Obvious risk in this scenario is VGP/PNP not getting adequate stock and missing out. Having to obsessively check for new listings has a cost of its own.

Tax is 6% in my state, MI, and, yes, I did my math and it was a little over $55 with tax from LRG (I was also looking at my order from LRG). So even with free shipping at VGP and the $8+ shipping at LRG (of which this was an order of 4 games), it's still more expensive at VGP right now. And that was only for Grandia. It's not the same for other games like Contra.

But if I'm to force a point, it used to be advantages from a price standpoint ordering from VGP BECAUSE of the lack of US tax and shipping charges, and that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Factoring everything except a possible wait time, which, I mean, you're waiting regardless if ordering direct from LRG or VGP, because VGP still has to wait for the games to arrive to them. In theory the games get delivered about the same time and either way LRG is getting the money.

I'm not defending LRG games or crapping on VGP. I'm just stating the great advantage (not sarcasm) of ordering from VGP seems to be gone with this new round of releases VGP put up. At least, yes, there's still the rewards system at VGP.

How did it come out to just over $55 if the game itself was $55, you were charged $8 shipping, and 6% tax? Assuming you're distributing the shipping cost equally amongst all four titles, that would still be $60.30 ($55 + $2 of shipping + $3.30 tax). That puts the difference at just north of $5, which I feel like is reasonable.

I'm really not trying to argue - the rest of your points are valid and it really is just a matter of preference plus or minus a few bucks most of the time (i.e. if you value not waiting go VGP, if you're worried about missing out go LRG). But I feel like the math isn't mathing. Or maybe I'm missing something and just need more coffee.

I apologize. I looked at my order confirmation email and there was a coupon code. The coupon IS NOT present on my order on LRG's website and showed $55.37 for Grandia. I manually added that up where it said all taxes were included.

Its been like that since the first retail release at Best Buy 5 years ago

In general, the box the packs come in is flimsy and not well suited for storing cards after you open packs. This is true for sports cards or any other type of cards. The exception would be Pokemon Elite Trainer Boxes which are specifically designed to hold the cards after you open the packs

The estimated ship date for the Castlevania CE says July 2025. That's gotta be one of the longer waits for an LRG product that I can recall off the top of my head.

You are forgetting the benefit of having the ability to chargeback if something goes wrong with VGP. At LRG you are at the mercy of CS since many times by the time they ship, it’s been too long to do a chargeback.

Chargebacks should only ever be used as a last resort ie when you are being defrauded and the merchant refuses to rectify the situation. Doing so will burn any bridges as they can and will blacklist you from ever doing business with them again. I've personally never had any issues with VGP (knock on wood).

The new ordering system LRG uses called purple dot is supposed to allow you to cancel a order and get a full refund without having to deal with Customer Service. I have never had a reason to cancel but there is a cancel order button on my two recent preorders if I needed to cancel them before release. I have one order that is ready for shipping (Grandia HD and Contra OG) and that order cannot be canceled.

Edit: I received my shipping confirmation for Grandia HD and Contra OG today finally.

It sucks there is no edition of Castlevania that comes with all the covers this time like the Advanced Collection. I'm not paying $200 for the CE. Should've been one for $80 again like last time.

It’s a fool’s errand to collect covers anyway. What if they make covers for each convention? Going to collect all of them? When does it stop?

Konami Exclusive Edition of Castlevania Dominus Cover art looks great in red.. probably will order one as well as an LRG version.. Konami also had/has some cool Castlevania collectibles- I missed out on the Castlevania collectors edition music box -

If you want to order the Konami Exclusive Edition of Castlevania Dominus log in to your account and add it to your cart. Leave the tab open for a few hours and Konami will email you a 10% off code.
