Seriously?!? Wow, that game’s been out for a while now…

Edit- yeah I went back and checked my regular edition, it shipped December 2023…
Yea that's why they gave everyone free steam keys for the mean time. I think the steelbook was the issue. I really need to stop collecting steelbooks if the orders are gonna be delayed.

You had to have purchased a game featuring “cut scenes or cinematics-pre-rendered or pre-scripted animations or vignettes that advance the narrative of the video game's story”. Wonder if this actually has anything to do with it, or if this is just lawyer-speak from someone that has no clue about video games.

Yeah.. I don't get this lawsuit at all. And it seems iffy to give them my personal info.

Whenever there's a class action lawsuit, in the past, I received notice via mail or email. I didn't know show about the lawsuit before hand.

If I was impacted, LRG should have records of who was impacted and they'll have my contact info. Knowing LRG, they prob didn't bother to keep those records though (or maybe are destroying them intentionally) but then whatever... I'm hopefully hear about it somewhere and then join in 5-10 years when the case is actually settled.

I think what’s going on is the video games with cutscenes pulls them into the Video Privacy Protection Act. It’s an older statute originally passed to prevent video rental stores from sharing your private information but it still is in effect today and has been found to apply to other forms of video and private information. Then they’ve probably sold customer lists on top of that so that’s where the information sharing violation comes into play.

This is the very, very early stages. This type of information gathering isn’t uncommon, typically when you’ve gotten notice with other class actions it’s probably because the case has reached a settlement and the defendant is required to turnover customer information. At this point since there isn’t any actively filed litigation, the law firm has to collect the information on their own to investigate.

So pretty much every game they ever sold. Even the retro collection games have cutscenes. Like what kind of nonsense is this? Why would they leak information for only games that have cutscenes?

They're basically going against everyone in the industry, including Microsoft, Ubisoft, Nintendo, and GameFly, each with at-a-glance identical press releases. This has nothing to do with Limited Run specifically and may have nothing to do with Limited Run whatsoever.

Great, I’m all for dragging these companies into digital privacy kicking and screaming if necessary.

Some of this is a reach. They're using a law from 1988 about video stores not being able to share rental information and applying it to video games, and retailers like GameStop, GameFly, Limited Run Games, and iam8bit are considered "video tape service providers" because they sell video games that include cutscenes. So if there's a Facebook tracking pixel on limitedrungames.com, the fact that they sell video games with cutscenes means they're in violation of a 36-year-old law targeting rental stores like Blockbuster.

I have zero problems with someone saying "stop doing that", but to make it a class action lawsuit seems ambulance chase-y to me.

The law seems to detail that the company has to sell the purchase/rental history of the consumer without consent. The actual customer data without the purchase history is a different thing that doesn't fall under this. I wonder if any of these named companies have even done this as I've never been contacted by anyone about my Nintendo purchases except Nintendo to ask if I liked a specific recent purchase. Sounds like this is a fishing expedition by a lawfirm looking for someone to sue to make some cash.

DELAYED!!!!

Why is LRG releasing Yakuza 0 and 1 on PS4? It was retail on PS4 and the games aren't even expensive. I absolutely love the Yakuza series but unless I'm missing something, this is dumb. Someone could buy Y0 right now for 20 and get it tomorrow. Or they could preorder at LRG for 35 plus shipping and wait a year to get it??

Yeah my motto with with LRG is usually I'll only buy if I'm willing to wait 6-7 months to a year or more after release for games. For the pre-orders I have I just forget about them until they come in. Sometimes when I get them they immediately go to eBay (one game I got for like $2.99 on digital and wasn't too good). LRG is a joke sometimes and I only get things that I really, really want now for the most part.

Also since the Switch release is new and the Xbone release didn't have a physical for Yakuza Kiwami 1, LRG is like which idiots can I con to get the PS4 version as well!

I think it's more of the "complete set" thing they are doing with Yakuza. I'm not interested in the paper and acrylic stand for $40 more editions though. The big slipcase included with 0 seems enough of a reason to get the normal versions. I've played the games after 6 (not Ishin yet) on Xbox, so I think I'll get them there.

I'm a huge Yakuza/Like a Dragon fan (Yakuza 0 is one of my favorite games of all time, and I just have Infinite Wealth to play, but I do own it already on PS4), and I'm glad Xbox is finally getting physical releases, but I agree the PS4 reprints are odd. Maybe SEGA mandated it, or maybe LRG did it so that they can provide versions for each available platform. I'd love the slipcover for my PS4 games, but of course 3, 4, and 5 are in a single case on PS4 (at retail anyway), so that doesn't make much sense for PS4. And I'm not buying them all again on Xbox.

If the Classic editions came with a proper statue and not this acrylic standee crap, they might be under consideration. I wish the CD soundtracks were separate.

I had a feeling LRG would handle the Switch release, and I am curious about the Switch version of Kiwami since it was announced. No doubt it'll be inferior to the other versions, but, honestly, if the WiiU version of 1 & 2 had gotten a US release, I probably would've gotten it for the novelty. I feel the Switch version is just for novelty at this point.

In general, this just feels like milk city from both LRG and SEGA.

I have played 0,1, and 2. They are fantastic games. I have the Yakuza collection with 3,4,5 but I know those are based on the PS3 versions. I have not jumped into those yet, I'm afraid the QOL upgrades in 0 and 1 have spoiled me. Eventually I'll get around to the others though.

Not gonna lie... I already have all the Yakuza games (but haven't played anything in the Like a Dragon or Judgement series) and I'm... super tempted to give LRG more money.

I started playing Yakuza back in November of last year when I finally got a PS5. I have beaten them all (no plat/100% though) and I love the series. No way am I buying these from LRG,

And anyway Kiwami 3 is probably in the works. No reason to pay a premium for what will soon be the inferior version.

1) Remember when the Double Fine triangle box was supposed to ship with the last game of the trilogy? My Grim Fandago shipped in September 2023. Here we are 11 months later still waiting for a box!

2) Hilarious to see physical PS4 games I already own come through LRG in Yakuza. lol

3) I should have been an attorney - "Levi & Korsinsky’s attorney rates range from $475 to $950, with paralegal rates at $325." The target is did LRG sharing data with Meta. From their agreement form "...to investigate whether, Limited Run or its affiliates disclosed video-watching history and personal information about me with Facebook (now, Meta)..."

Yakuza-boxes-by-LRG.jpg

I like the fake little yellow outline of an imaginary box housing. A serious company would release the entire boxed series all at once as a complete collection. They'd have an honest offering. They'd own it. not a series of 7 easy down payments of only $74.99 + Shipping x7.

That's right. You'd be paying north of $595 + tax, MINIMUM, for this collection. and give them all the money up front, in installments.

I think the main issue since Yakuza is owned by Sega, and they don't need LRG period for printing games. Also since it is Sega the games drop in price quickly after release. Unless I really want them I'll get them a few months down the line for $25-$30. The Pirate Majima game looks like a beautiful $25-30 game. You used to need to buy Yakuza games on release because of their nicheness, but it's not like that anymore. This is garbo IMHO and only for extreme Yakuza collectors.

You only have to buy the standard edition of Yakuza Zero to get the box which has it's own separate boxes to house each version of the game (standard or these collector versions). Nicely at least they give you the box up front instead of on the back end. Not that I'm defending any of this. I won't be buying any of this when I have all these games on PS4 already.

I'm primarily a physical guy. Only buy digital when I feel like there's no shot of a game going physical. When 0 was on sale for $5 a few years ago, I picked it up since there was no physical in sight. I was planning on buying the rest digitally after I finish the game, but these new physical editions- things have changed. The question now is do I re-purchase 0 just to get a fancy slipcase or not...?

You can get a physical copy now for nearly half off what LRG will be asking. Near the same price if you need to be "not greatest hits."

And you can probably find a copy this weekend on sale somewhere, assuming you're in the USA and stores do Columbus Day sales.

I say this is only interesting for Xbox types to get physical copies. I highly doubt the Switch sees the whole series. I also highly suspect they'll run like butt, look like butt, or both, on the Switch.

I can always tell when it's time to move on in a console cycle when runs like butt is common. Happened to the PS4 (Ghosts of Tsushima ran badly at times especially for the last battles). Can't get that Switch 2 coming soon enough.

I'm an Xboxer for life. The only Sony system I own is a PSP I got second-hand in college so I could Skype my parents in another state (and perhaps play a game or two.)

My first yakuza game was Like a dragon 7. Loved it. Easily 9/10 or 10/10. Ended up playing yakuza 0 next, easily 9/10. Ended up playing judgement, another great series then infinite wealth and kiwami 1-2. Not looking forward to playing 3-6 yet lol

It's not due to a lack of interest in the game, it's due to a lack of time.

3 and 4 are still really good. 5 feels bloated and a bit unfocused, but 6 is refocused and really good.

I didn't think 3, 4 and 5 were particularly memorable in any way, but I like 4 and 5 more due to Shun and Taiga as characters (both as part of the story and as playable characters). 6 and Zero are on another level for me, 1's saving grace is it's original story for the series but is hard to play these days (even Kiwami) but 2 still holds relatively well.

Skype on PSP came as part of Sony trying to incentivize people off of an old firmware that was jailbroken by adding new features. Didn't matter once that one was broken too, but it was an interesting approach for them to take.
I got a PSP for DJMAX Fever.

Bringing back to topic relevance, once DJMAX Respect DLC is done (lol - never?) I would love if LRG did a physical complete edition. It would probably be absurdly expensive though, and the PS4 version is a bit lacking compared to the PC one now and they announced they won't be continuing collaboration DLC on PS4. Unless you consider the PC version's dumb always online requirement.
Xbox actually has the PC version (Respect V), unlike the PS4 version, interestingly enough.

All DLC of the best version of the game minus the always online requirement at a non-absurd price - Yeah, this is going to remain a dream.

If LRG did DJ Max they'd either sell us a new copy every time a DLC pack releases a la Shredder's Revenge or call it good enough at the base game a la Rainworld. The days of caring about preservation and everything on cart/disc are long gone, unfortunately.

Mostly ribbing, but it is funny to think about the former situation with DJ Max since it gets so much DLC - dozens and dozens of physical variants sure would be something.

I owned every Yakuza games. No need to upgrade PS4 version. Likely we will see PS5 Yakuza Ultimate collection after LRG released. Only pick up Yakuza & Castlevania on Switch version for now.

Is LRG's order history broken for anyone else? I can see page 1, but then when I hit next or page 2- it's just the same orders that were on page 1 (even though it says I'm on page 2). Same thing if I got to any page...
