List of stores you shouldn't go to.

hiccupleftovers

CAGiversary!
This is not going to be a list because you hate/dislike a company, but rather stores that are unfriendly, have bad customer service, bad employees, they never have anything instock, etc.

I'm not sure this will catch one, since I'm sure some of you will say I just go to the store just to get what I want and I don't care about the other people there. For me, if the store is crap than it just isn't worht the hassle.

Two such stores are for me in my area are the TRU on Maryland and the BB on Marks Street in Vegas.

The TRU on Maryland has horrible employees and they never seem to have anything in-stock. Their video game department is run by some 80 year old grandma that barely knows what a video game looks like. She acts very bitchy, whiny, and nasty for whenever you ask for assistance. The same can be said about the other employees but they do help a little.

The BB on Stephanie is just the worst. Customer service, the floor people, the cash register people, etc. It's not worth calling a manager there. Every one doesn't know how to offer assistance, no, they don't want to. They also do not know their own policies. I can't tell you the number of times that I have caught them doing mistakes on either ringing up my games, when and if I return something, etc.

These two stores just aren't worth the trouble and the hassle of going to.

The Gamestop in the Century 3 Mall in Pittsburgh, PA. Horrible Customer Service, all the people that work in that store seem to be the biggest a**holes Gamestop could find.

Any CompUSA nuff said!

That's it, next time I'm round in that area please remind me to stop there. I've always wanted to see "some 80 year old grandman that barely knows what a video game looks like" try and convince me to buy a PS2.

I don't have any store in particular, but I always hate it when employees act like they know everything.

Usually some computer store, and I want a cheaper product than the "it" brand. I have some almost 21 kid telling me that what I am buying is a POS. Or I am trying to make something work and I get wrong info from them. Makes me want to buy the company (I wish) and say "Your fired, punk".

Most of the time what they're selling is a POS. If we're talking retail computer stores here.

Usually we are talking about name brand vs. name brand and they try to get me to buy the more costly one. I have owned tons of computer stuff because I work in the industry and they all suck to me. So I don't want to pay extra for a POS.

The EB Games in Florence, AL. I only go there to take advantage of them. Also, the local Game Crazy smells like BO. And not from the customers.

First EB nitpick: manager was trying to sell a guy HALO 2. Apparently it was made by Bungle (pronounced BUN-GULL) Studios. I'll let it slide.

Next: same manager tries to sell you a preorder to the game you preordered yesterday. Or is that just to me?

The rest of the employees are twentysomething girls who like the word 'groovy' and probably have played the SNES Barbie Super Model. And nothing else.

And I swear the PA system has Creed on loop. I do my business and leave.

The EBgames store in the sterling location next to Quiznos in Slidell, Louisiana isn't worth your gas.

The service is wack.
The manager just sits away on his laptop ignoring customers.
They push stupid "free" magazine trials even though they know customers get screwed into paying.
The managers the only one with a "check out" policy.
The manager burns DVDs to his laptop.
The stores a mess.
The employees don't look for the games when you ask or call, they guess.

You DEFINITELY shouldn't go to Victoria's Secret. They're a bunch of sexists. When I went to go try on some panties they said that guys weren't allowed in the dressing rooms. WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TOO?!?

ABC Warehouse....any...ive had the same experiences at each one.

Ignored completely when i first come in, than attacked to the point of leaving if i glance for more than 2 seconds at any product.

best buy in central ave, yonkers ny
used to be ok, but theres some asshole customer service guy..i seriously came thiiiiiiiis close 2 punching him in the face...hes like a marshmellow peep that reeks of BO
plus this girl i used 2 like works there :'(...she turned out to be the complete opposite of what i thought she'd be like after i hung out with her *shudder*
plus many of the reg guys are assholes

and i dno about the hot topic thing , nirvana guy :)..no dis-respect, i dont buy clothes there but whenever i walked in there the ppl were always really polite and stuff :D

Not necessarily the Circuit City in Mobile... but a certain old fart that still works there...

It was not long after dvd players had been introduced and I already had one ($350... ouch)... Circuit City was selling that DIVX crap feature with all their dvds (basically dvds with a technology that "locked" them from being viewed after a few days after they are first opened... I hated that product as did most everyone else who was an early adopter of dvd

Anyway... I get in the line with a few dvds, this guy starts ringing me up... the whole time giving me some crappy sales pitch as to why I NEED to buy a DIVX dvd player (all the studios are going to release their movies on DIVX, and "Traditional; DVD players will be outdated"... etc... etc)... I basically rolled my eyes and replied with a "Sure it will"... The guy talked to me as if I had no clue what I was buying, as if I were stupid for buying regular dvds... early adopters of new technology tend to know a little more about what they are buying than Joe Six Pack at the local WalMart

Needless to say, a few months later Circuit City discontinued the DIVX program

How are the HT employees so bad? Sure the prices are bad, but the employees are always trying to talk to you and get to know you, and are very friendly normally.

I'd say the 2 Gamestop's and the one EB in the Mall of America. The people that work at them just piss me off. Especially the Gamestop on 1st floor, there's this one guy there that swears he's on Beta for EVERY single big video game that comes out. He tried to claim that him finding some certain glitch is the reason Halo 2 was delayed so long. When I asked him what the glitch was he just muttered something about physics and said he couldn't get into too much detail about it.

wow....I thought the store feedback database got mothballed. It's alive?! Good thing you posted before I finished typing my message. I was going to post a link to the old thread when that database was introduced, and gripe about its being abandoned..

HA, someone is delusional.
The Gamestop at the Fox Hills Mall in Culver City, CA had this nerdy kid named Darren I used to hate. If he still works there avoid it.
I think he still works there. Most of the guys in that store are eh.

There isn't a listing for Buyritegames.com ...that should've been one of the first sites to be listed. Hopefully, the occasional threads asking if that site is legit won't pop up as often (or anymore)....newcomers can just check out the wagonload of bad feedback on it for themselves. Then again, how many people have actually had dealings with them, and would thus have something concrete to say about them? Maybe somebody could just put up an official-looking listing & review for it and thus pave the way for "Officially branded Do Not Go There" places for sites/stores that are plain, outright rip-offs. (then again...a few folks actually posted claims that they had orders go through just fine with them, if I recall correctly.) *shrug*

[edit: it isn't listed, hiccups. It was introduced in a beta state (and still is, kind of, I guess) so that folks could start adding sites/stores/reviews to it...but it was very rough-looking. It's a *little* more polished now, and somebody seems to have spent some time adding more stores to it. Reviews are still kind of sparse, though. Since there is no direct link to it from a button or pull-down menu option, the easiest way to get to it right now is to click on that link CheapyD posted a few messages earlier.]

I never even knew that we had one. :? Where is it normally listed?

The Circuit City in Columbus at Brice Rd & Gender Rd.
I have tried to shop there, mostly due to the deals listed on this site, and every time it takes longer to get a cashier to help me then it takes to go through every game on their shelves. It like they want you to beg to check out or something. When you finally do get them to help you they always have an attitude like you are bothering them. Unless its a REAL good deal, I would pay more for better service from other stores.

RBM is right. I agree.

BUYRITEGAMES.COM sucks.

I ordered some games from them. Charged me, never shipped. 2 weeks after I ordered, I emailed them and they said my card was not charged. Checked my statement online, sure enough = $182.56. They have ignored subsequent emails. They never answer their damn phone. I had to soak up the $182 because I paid off my credit card before I noticed that they charged me and the csr at my cc company said since I paid it, it can't be disputed.

If you do one thing in your life, do this: stay the hell away from them.

Oh, and do me a favor. If you live by them. Go there, kick down the door. Beat the crap out of the guy that owns the place, and get my games for me.

There's this one Gamestop next to one of my town's Super Wal-marts. I really hate the manager since he's such a pushy dick.

I was picking up a pre-owned Gungrave, Tekken 4, and a new Viewtiful Joe 2. He immediately asks if I'd like to pre-order Tekken 5. I shoot him down just as quick.

He then strikes up a conversation about GTA games. Which I play along, pointing out that besides Vice City, I don't care for them. He then pulls out an ad for Narc and tells me the trade secret of its MSRP of $20. That since I liked Vice City, I'll love this. I take the ad and politely turn him down again.

After I'm done checking out, the bastard asks for the ad back since I won't be pre-ordering it.

usually the people who sell clothes are really nice and the people who sell products are ass clowns, but i guess some people who sell clothes can be ass clowns too.

I can actually say that i never had a bad experience at any of the EBs or gamestops..Helps to know the employees but even ones where people i dont know were really nice to me..
i guess thats postive feedback for Bridgewater Commons mall in Bridgewater,NJ
HT Employees are chill as hell anyone who can talk about Emo than switch it to hip hop are pretty cool..Most of them dont even try to sell shit anyway..

Not only is buyritegames.com bad, but their B&M store is bad too. They draw you in with their cheap prices, but treat you like dirt. I bought a PS2 from them with a game (can't remember what game, I think GTA 3) and it took them about 30 minutes to get the system, and after that, they said, "the game is not in stock, choose something else". This is after they had already charged my card! They didn't offer a charge back or anything, just "choose something else". I did, but I haven't gone back since, that was about 3 years ago. NEVER deal with these people, no matter how tempting.

I don't understand why you guys are still bothering to type in reviews here, in this thread. There is a database for such which allows for the information to be indexed & viewed in a useful format. Put your reviews (and enter the store information if it's not already listed) here, you turkeys:

EB Games in N. Dartmouth, MA. Most of them aren't bad, but theres this one guy who acts like a game-god, and is a prick. I told him I wasn't interested in seeing his Pokemon: Fire Red wireless demo the next day. Two minutes later I said to my friend that I was considering selling my copy of Suikoden 2. The self-proclaimed-game-god then proceeded to kick me out of the store because "I was trying to steal business".

What a prick.

I'd avoid the Gamestops in Mayfair Mall and Southridge Mall in the Milwaukee, WI area. They're both managed by pushy assclowns whom I despise.

The Gamestop in Kettering, OH. Tried to trade in all my PSOne games that I didn't want anymore and some PS2 games. Trading the PS2 games were okay, but then employee(who seemed like he didn't know crap about games) became a dick when it came to the PSOne games.

He said that he couldn't take some games due to them being listed as 2 disc games when it was a one disc game. Which I showed him that it's a one disc game, cause if it wasn't, it would say 2 discs on the side or on the back. He then got the manager, who seemed to have a bad attitude and said the same thing. Which they seem to think that games like G-Police 2(with the subtitle, Weapons of Justice on the cover) and One Piece Mansion are 2 discs(how the hell can a puzzle game be 2 discs?).

So I just said the hell with it and stopped the trade in and just took them to Game Crazy, which I got a extra $10 for the PS2 games, and had no problems with the PSOne games. But it'll be the last time I trade games in at that Gamestop.

I can't think of any game store I've been to that's been especially bad... I know of one gamestop that occasionally ingores you when you have questions or whatnot (but not often).

There's a 2nd hand stop called Al's Music a couple blocks down from where I work. They're not mean, but they will rip you off like you wouldn't believe! It's not a game, but the best example is the used Soul Hunter DVD boxset at $100- these sell brand new, retail, for $50.

The worst I seem to get is the flea market. I dunno if it's cuz these guys have been yelled at too many times by stupid buyers, or if they think I don't know jack about games on account of being a girl, but they treat me like a moron. "How much is this game?" "... oh, that's a Sega CD game. You need a Seg..." "I know. How much is it?" I got that from everybody today but the PS2 guy, and the guy in the back corner- I shop at that booth the most. Nice guys, good deals, and a money-back guarantee on what they sell. Rare for a flea market!

The database is down.
