I looked for a while too, and I never understood why it held at such a high price. Keep an eye on Amazon for the used copies, a couple of times I've seen it in the low 30s + $3 shipping.

I just ordered GotY edition last week, I got tired of waiting for a price drop.
 
Check out ebay. I actually just bought a like new used copy of the GOTY Ed last week for $30. I also placed a bid on a copy of the non GOTY version and the final price on that one was $23. So if you aren't against used copies, I'd definitely keep an eye open there.

If you buy an open copy of the GOTY edition, do you still have access to the bonus levels costumes etc, or is it a redeemable code?
