it may be your opinion but it's not fact, let alone the majority opinion of people who actually know what good picture quality is
no tv makes regular dvd's look like blu-ray/hd-dvds
game modes are the most overrated pointless things on tv, generally they just up the shit on contrast/etc to make a horribly unrealistic picture that's more eye attention grabbing
Also a lot of the new sammy's are having issues (some hardware some software) *cough 71 series* (well all of them actually).
And whatever you do, don't go completely by in store pictures. First LCD's will look better in the bad lighting, secondly they (and even plasma's) have settings jacked to unrealistic proportions that make for a competely unnatural looking picture but do so because bright extreme colors attract attention of the human eye.
If you can see some decent tv's in a more natural setting (ie: smaller chains or non-chains, not bestbuy, circuit city, etc) then I'd advise that. I'd also advise playing with the picture settings a bit on the tv's. Lastly I'd see if you could hook up a game system or run your own dvd to the tv(s).
check opinions on avsforum.com and do a little research there[/quote]
once again, we'll have to agree to disagree. you're stating my opinions mean nothing, yet you tell me to go to avsforums to read other opinions, that i'm guessing are more correct in your opinion? haha. just call the kettle black already mr. pot. oh yeah, and everyone seems to love their 69er, enough?
trust me, the 120Hz AMP makes some of my dvd's look HD. you're telling me i'm mistaken of what i'm seeing? it adds depth and clarity to the pc. my friend, a chic, came over last night to watch superbad and she asked why it looked "weird". so it's noticeable even to a girl that knows nothing about HD watching a SD DVD through S video on a 360.
game mode doesn't seem to change the color or contrast, it seems to smooth the movement of the characters and environment. and i like the "unrealistic" look. isn't that the point?
my 69'er is problem free and like i've said before, all top brand flat panels run in the 3% failure rate. that's a statistic, not opinion.
yes, tv's come out of the box calibrated for bright super-stores. any educated HDTV consumer should know that and properly calibrate their HDTV.
YOU NEED A REALITY CHECK: name one place where you can go that'll carry high quality tv's that doesn't have lighting that isn't realistic to a home. i dare you. smaller chain? ha? like who? tweeter? you don't think they'll have bright lights as well? unless you know a guy in brooklyn that sells his "hot" tv's out of his mother's basement with no lighting and just happens to have every major brand you want to compare in "realistic" lighting, it ain't gonna happen. your advice is true and good, but very unrealistic. wow.
oh yeah, and i'd like to see you going to EVERY tv in CC and adjusting the picture settings. how long would that take. like they'd even let you do that anyways. even if you could, wouldn't the tv not look as good since you're adjusting it for home lighting in a commercial lighting setting? i know, it's a catch-22, but you made it up. haha. stupa-man
