So I know a bunch of people who have read poker books and I am interested in raising my skill level. I play a couple times a week, but I dont feel that its good enough for that much improvement, plus I play a lil online but its different in actual in person games. So has CAGs read a poker book or can recommend one?

I read phil helmuth's book that came with a "phil helmuth siganture series" chip set that my friend bought. Phil is full of shit. I found nothing in that book that improved my game. If you're playing twice a week just keep doing that, experience is the best teacher in poker. I found that watching WPT also helped me. Maybe some books are good but whatever you do, DO NOT read phil helmuth's book. Doyle Brunson's super system is a book my friend read and he's probably tied with me for best player at our games.

Work harder at finding ppl's tells (geez, Rounders is good fuckin' movie  ) as well as playing with more experienced players. Trust me, the frustration at losing money will make you work that much harder to win and thus elevate your game.

-Doyle Brunson - Super System is a must read.

- Anything by David Sklansky

-Dan Harrington on Hold 'em 1 & 2 (geared 4 tourney play) *reading now*

- AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of REAL money play, I've been playing for years.
