Looking for a good subwoofer online or in store.

For a PC or for a Home Theatre system.

For a Home Theatre System the brands you want to look into are:
SVS Subwoofers (online only)
HSU Research (also online)
Velodyne and other higher rated brands.

BTW: We're talking about Subs that start out around $400 bucks, but you tend to get what you pay for when it comes to subwoofers.

I'm not sure what other picks you are possibly looking for. You can buy cheap subs anywhere that don't perform well. You were given the best choices already. The big box stores don't have anything in the price range that compares.

For really cheap, Parts Express or Athena.

For the BEST cheaper subs, SVS or Hsu Research.

I have that Athena, and enjoy it- it's BIG. Unless you have a high-end setup, it should be fine for listening to music, playing videogames and watching movies.

I'm looking for something in the 150-200 range. I've been looking at a Velodyne VRP-1000, I heard it a circuit city and it sounded better than anything else they had there; which isn't saying much, as cc's selelection is pretty limited. I saw it on bensbargains awhile ago for $150, (right now its freaking $250)

mofo1115, do you know if that Dayton you recommended is better or about equal to the velodyne? I looked at the Athena, I know whats on the inside matters most, but that thing looks cheap.
Actually, I would not suggest ebay.
Personally, I would either go with:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/show...ID=1482627&PID=361116&SID=368557-0-0-0-3yp33a

This sub often drops to $100 on the site.

or

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...4645/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-4704000-9077729?ie=UTF8

Both considered to be very very good for its price even at retail.
Ive got a parts express sub (a older version of that one) and it kicks ass. Alot of home theater guys like them for smaller rooms or second setups because of the bang for the buck. solid build, decent componetns, and tight bass, not boomy or tinny at all. Of course, if money is no object, go for one of the cylyndrical SVS subs.
