Looking for a SNES back up device

Like the UFO or the Wild Card... Could someone direct me to a place to aquire such a thing, and if possibly give me a detailed explanation of how it works? I think I have a simple understanding but is it true these things will take a rom from my computer and play it on my SNES? And vice versa? (Game to comp?) Thanks.

you need to have a way of reading the game information from your SNES to be recorded to your computer. which would be quite difficult especially if you've never done it before.. and i think i've said too much about roms.. but if its done leagally (you actually owning the games of the roms you make.. ) then techincally there is no problem.. if all else fails try a google search on the subject of rom making.

I have a game doctor sf 7 (I think it's supposed to be the best, or one of the best ones). I bought it years ago on ebay (when they were still small enough not to care about those things and stores still rented snes games). I never did figure out how to copy them, but recently I brought it out again and realized I could play translated snes roms on it. Now I can play translated japanese rpg's on a real snes! It took a while, but I finally got my money's worth out of it (think I paid over $100)

They have ROM carts that can hold about 3+ large SNES games which can be purchased with the software and cables to transfer them from your computer to the cart. The ROM fits most SNES cases, so after transfering the games, buy yourself a cheap SNES sports game or something and replace the old game with your ROM cart. Then, make yourself a nice label to be printed out at Kinko's (or wherever) to place over the old one and you're done. I did this with a 3X ROm cart I bought for $70 that recognizes various file extensions (including .smc) and loaded a translated Tales of Phantasia, Star Ocean (both from DeJap) and then put in Terrenigma(PAL) for good measure. I believe you have to buy your own batery, if I remember correctly. It'll cost you some money, but the feeling of playing those games on your console is priceless. Just remember that you're supporting the booming chinese piracy industry.

yeah.. if you're doing this to "back up your games" then ok.. i could see from a collectors point of view.. and also realize that it may be more money then its worth and you're almost always better off just buying carts from EB or Ebay.. (most games can be had for 5 or less anyway save for the RPGs) so yeah.. just remember is it really worht all the effort?

I always wanted one of those gadgets to do play stuff like Terranigma, seiken densetsu 2 (secret of mana 3), and Dragon Quest 5/6 on a real SNES.
