looking for used wii u some question

I am looking to buy used wii u and i got soem question when looking on ebay. How come i see a lot of "system only" listing. Is wii u really prone to failure? Also is the tablet controller really needed or a classic controller will do? Finally, what seems to be a fair price for it lol.

Not really. People just split up the Gamepad and the console to sell them separately for people who just need a replacement (and for more cash)

The Gamepad is needed for a lot of the menus (even the options) and is mandatory to operate the console. Once in a game, it will depend on the game itself. Splatoon, for example, requires the Gamepad at all times. Most games have alternate control schemes however.

Finally, what seems to be a fair price for it lol.

If you look on eBay and wait for a sale you can get a new Wii U bundled for about $250, so $200 is a decent price for used. This is about the same price Nintendo was selling their refurbished systems for.

With all that said, I would recommend waiting for the NX reveal and how it will effect Wii U prices before you get a Wii U, unless you really want one really badly. I have a Wii U and I enjoy it a lot, but it is not a system for everyone.
