Hey fellow CAGers!

So I'm think of upgrading and going all out this holiday season and I'm wanting to get a decent surround sound system for around a max of 400 dollars any advice is appreciated i am a total noob . Previous buys, personal experience, best store to go to etc

Thanks!

Shop onkyo.com
Get an onkyo surround for that easily. Sign up to be a member to get an additional discount. Ussually get a rcvr and speaker package refurb for 300-400 there.

Also Read the other posts that people have asked this same question. All the info is pretty much the same. Just changes a little bit as time moves on.

This.

If youre going for a HTIB get an Onkyo.

center channel and subwoofer are your two most important speakers. you obviously need left and right and rear, but if you've got to budget $, put a little more into those two.

receiver sales are going on all the time - just be aware that wattage rating isn't terribly accurate - so a 60w/channel Onkyo is likely MUCH better than a 100w/channel sony.

Before you even start looking, make sure the rest of your equipment is compatible with what you'll be buying. Does your TV(cable box) and xbox have the optical cable outputs? Will the surround system receiver have two inputs? Things like that.

Damn you.. now I want one for myself.
