Looking to buy a Tablet $300-$400

Hey all,

I'm looking to get my mom a tablet for Christmas. I plan to spend $300-$400 on one as anything less than that looks to be not enough and anything over that seems too much or too expensive (Also it needs to have a 10 inch screen, 7 is too small imo) . I think the main things she'll do with it is read books, browse the web, watch videos, and listen to music.

Any suggestions?

If you are ready to buy today, go on slickdeals and check out the deals they have posted on the Evo View. The specs are MUCH better than the Fire's, and its going for under 250 bucks...

**Edit**

Reread OP, missed the 10" comment. If that is the case, keep an eye out for any sales on the Xoom. Its still a great tablet (1ghz dual core, 1gb of ram, 32gb of space) and since there is a new version you can generally get the original at a steal.

A little over your $300-400, but Microcenter sells the 16GB iPad 2's for $449, $50 off the normal price right now. It's one of those things where, if I were gonna drop $400 on a tablet, it's not too bad to just bite it and spend the extra $50 on the iPad itself. Unless, of course, you're opposed to all things Apple, like some people I know.

The Asus Transformer is an awesome machine. The quad core Transformer Prime being announced has caused the original to drop quite a bit in price of late.

This is good advice. After spending $350+, you might as well go for the ipad 2, or a premium android tablet. I think if you sign up for their free reward center thing at microcenter, they give you a 10% coupon, which you should be able to use on a ipad 2. It should defer the tax.
