Vikings 35 - Texans 28
The top ranked defense in the NFL got a taste of Purple Jesus, who rushed for 166 yards on 10 carries for 3 TDs - the vast majority coming on two long scores, one a 70 yarder on the first play of the game. Meanwhile Orton was 9 of 12 for 200 yards and 2 TDs, both long ones to Harvin, who had 155 of those yards.
The difference was definitely in the Vikings ruining Matt Schaub's perfect season passer rating (I couldn't believe that was possible when I saw it) by picking him twice, once at the goalline at the end of the first half and again on the Texans' final drive. Schaub still managed to post a rating over 100 though.
After trailing by 7 at halftime the Texans had grabbed a lead following a missed FG by Longwell (damned lag!) but the Vikings tied it on a long AP run and then took the lead moments later after the Texans fumbled the ensuing kickoff. AP scored again from 8 out on the next play to give the Vikings the final 35-28 score. After the last Schaub pick AP could have scored again after breaking through for the required 1st down to salt the game, but instead went down voluntarily with open field in front of him, much to the chagrin of fantasy owners.
gg Ramesu! I can't remember the last time we played, but it was quite enjoyable. Very good game on both sides.
Also.. Whoever on the Vikings medical staff is responsible for keeping shoulder labrums in shape needs to get fired stat. Both Jared Allen and Chad Greenway tore theirs, putting them out 2 and 3 weeks respectively. Definitely more damaging was the Texans losing Owen Daniels for 9 weeks to a dislocated hip.
