Im pretty sure the gold coins are just for purchasing cards and other unlockables for madden. You can get the gold coins from just playing the game though so the only real perk is the $10 off
 
If I'm not mistaken, the coins can also be used to purchase "scouting reports" on your opponents while playing online. You can buy reports that tell which side of the field they run to most often, what plays they usually call on third downs, things like that. The coins can either be purchased with $, or earned through gameplay (by finishing online games, from some reports).

That's actually the only thing that I've heard coins used for so far, but that might not be the case.

I've also seen reports that 50 free scouting reports come with every new game. I've also seen reports that 2,000 coins come with every new game. If these are true, then it's logical to believe that 20,000 coins == 500 reports (keep in mind that you can get several reports per game).

After doing more scouring of the internet, it looks like there's 45 reports (!) per game/player that you can buy, though you can get them all for the price of 25 reports.

It would be nice if they used these coins on Madden Ultimate Team. It would also be nice if Madden Ultimate Team came out at launch with Madden. Not sure about that happening.

Stupid coins... who the hell cares about coins? lol... lame deal indeed. :booty:I went with Amazon for there $20 game credit.
