With EA owning the rights to ESPN, which is owned by ABC, how can EA's game continue to be called Madden? could we be seeing the end of Madden games? am i totaly off? does anyone care?

discuss. . . .[/QUOTE]
I believe that EA has a contract with Madden himself, so it doesn't matter what show he's on.

EDIT: My opinion is that I don't care what show he's on.

I thought I had read in some magazine, that due to the cost of the espn/nfl deals, that EA was contemplating cutting madden anyways.

I don't think it really matters, that's like saying I have a deal with Jenna Jameson to do my bukkake films and I own the rights to the Cookie Monster's Image, they're not really related. EA will continue to run their line of games separate from ESPN's anyway as far as I know.

So, EA owns the license to ESPN, but the football games won't be called ESPN football? that's where i saw teh conflict of interest i suppose. i don't know, i was just throwing it out there. i found madden to be annoying anyway, at least slightly more annoying than the ESPN guys.

Are you saying EA want to remove Madden name from their game or not having a football game at all? I can't imagine football game without Madden.

yes that was what I thought I read. It was a couple of months ago in egm I believe. He is costly, and EA feels it will still sell without his name. Also throw in the fact that their is no competition that he could sign on with. That NFL deal was expensive, so from a business side of things, it makes sense.
