MAG Birthday Special Event

It may sound clichéd, but wow, time really flies! It’s hard to believe that it has already been a full year since our massive 256-person PlayStation 3 exclusive shooter, MAG, was released all over the globe. To celebrate our one-year birthday, we’re unveiling a handful of promotions as a thank you to our fans throughout the week.

First up, starting Wednesday, January 26 at 12am Pacific Time, we’re changing all in-game queue and “Happy Hour” bonuses to 256% until Sunday, January 30 at 11:59pm. If you’ve been meaning to level up to grab our various “level 60” trophies, our promotional time period is a great time to go for it!

Speaking of January 26, all day from 10am-5pm Pacific Time, members of the Zipper Interactive QA team (our best players!) will be online and playing MAG throughout the day. If you’ve never participated in our “Play MAG with Zipper” events, they’re great fun and offer you the perfect opportunity to show us your skills.

Our third and final promotion is a special “Faction Neutral” switch for the Domination and Acquisition modes. For the first time ever in MAG “Live,” our two biggest game types will switch from being PMC-specific to being open for defense by any of our three factions. Like our 256% XP bonus, this mode switch will be in operation from January 26 at 12am Pacific to January 30 at 11:59pm.

But this isn’t all we’re doing to wish MAG a happy birthday. We’ll also be posting some additional posts throughout the week, including a breakdown of MAG statistics and numbers on Thursday and a special “Five Things You Never Knew About MAG” article on Friday morning. It should be fun.

As always, everyone here at Zipper Interactive wants you to know how much we appreciate all the support and feedback you have given us over the last year and we hope you’ve enjoyed playing the game as much as we’ve enjoyed making and improving it. Thank you very much!
Cool, I've played the game once for like 2 hours. Now's my time to rank up :D Anybody around here still play?
I still play every week, though to a lesser extent than before(there are many games that need to be played!). I used to play 4 to 6 hours a week, but now I only play one or two (I have a total of 140 hrs, not that many if you compare it with the guys on their 600th hour).

I actually got this game back from my brother. I currently have a 48 Sver guy (havent played since the 1st week it came out). I'll be willing to pick up the extra slots if we can get a team going.

I really dig the Move controls, though there is a BIT of a learning curve. I was absolutely terrible at first, but now I play better than I did before with the DS3. Its just getting used to using the whole set-up and developing some muscle memory.

I can't play this game without capable team communication. Sure my team can win, but barely. This is the kind of game with just constant communication, your team WILL destroy the other side.

Ugh, the first time I played the game I did well (had a 2 K/D) but playing this week I can't seem to get anything done kills or objectives or just anything to give me XP. I feel like I pump a clips worth of bullets into people and then they flip 180 degrees to 1 shot kill me.
That's most team games, isn't it?
Not CoD. The ability to have kill streaks allow an individual to be a one man wrecking machine. As long as he has someone to fuel his streak, one person can control the other team.

As for MAG, the game is enjoyable when there is a teamtalk going on. I just can't get into a game where no one is talking. Sure they are being awesome teammates by reviving and such. However a coordinated squad makes the game.

I would be down to play more, but KZ3 comes out soon and Socom 4 in April. Once those games come out, MAG would pretty much be non-existent in my playtime.

I might be the only one on this, but MAG could have been the best FPS if it was WWII themed. Think about it. Large maps, factions (US, Russians, Germans, UK, Japan, Italians, etc), perfect for how the the skill tree works. Sure WWII theme has been played out, but no WWII has ever captured that war feeling. MAG would have easily done this.

i completley agree. when mag launched a year ago, i had some cag people + friends that would consistently fill 4-8. constant communication. we won our fair share of games. when we lost, they were th really close games. i still retain fond memories of teammates screaming out for help or give call outs to enemies coming or the triple A under attack. later when i switched factions by myself, the game turned into a grind.

mag needs teamplay b/c its almost impossible for one person to take down a bunker. i might have done it once or twice before. its just too hard to plant and hold vs 8+ opponents.

3 days of downloading and i still havent finished getting the updates. argh.

I need some caffeine this morning - when I saw the topic I thought it said "MAG Birthday Suit Event" I was like, WTF is going on here....then I opened my eyes....I at least got a laugh out of it....wish I had more time for MAG....seems like it would be fun IF you can get a group communicating.
