Make Vita Buttons Quieter?

Probably a silly thing to wonder but can anyone think of any way of making the clicky Vita buttons quieter or silent? I'm thinking of playing it in bed as it's one of my few gaming opportunities these days but feel self-conscious about how loud the constant button clicks are next to a sleeping wife.

It's one of the few times I would rather a mushy button than a nice clicky pop. Any ideas or is this just one of those things that can't be masked?

There are a handful of games that can be played via touch only but they're few and far between and I would still like to play things like Dragon's Crown and the awesome streaming function of the PS4.

Maybe a skin that would cover the buttons, too, and mask the click? I haven't really seen those, though.

I actually go through the same thing. I know that if I let her fall asleep before I start to play then I am fine but if I start to play while she is falling asleep then it last for about 5 minutes before I hear "Hun, how much longer until you are gonna go to sleep" That is when I click the power button OFF.

It looks like there may be a solution to your problem...if you're willing to buy the new Vita model.

Siliconera has pointed out that the buttons on the new Vita 2000 will require less pressure to depress them.

This of course logically leads to the conclusion that the buttons on the new model should be quieter as well.

Totally there with you, Boosted. It seems like men in general tend to do things later before bedtime.

Interesting observations on the new model, thanks. I'm wacky enough that I might be tempted, but I would have to try one out personally before blind-buying it unless someone could give me a great firsthand account with button noise in mind. The loss of the OLED screen is a tough pill for me to swallow, however.

It isn't the most comfortable but I've actually discovered a technique for clicking the buttons a lot quieter than just pounding them down. I doubt anyone is interested but if someone is I can try to describe it.

The difference between the screens is not worth it for me personally. I think the OLED screen looks much better (according to the pictures) so my wife will just have to deal with it :D

I think that one shot that is being passed around is probably deceiving. Maybe it was the lighting. I don't know, but I don't own any LCD screen products that look so horrible as that picture, and in fact they all have a great image, especially my iPhone, and I really doubt they are using something so bad for the new Vita. But we shall see. I'll wait to see it in a store.
