There's also the Brain Age Bundle (white) version for same price. Very tempting, as the bundle w/software is cheaper than just the standalone handheld. Wish I had the $40 off coupon...
I assume "LE" stands for "Limited Edition". Are you sure it's limited?
it is limited as it is only available during black friday

The Red Mario, Gold Triforce, and Pink Pawprint DS Lites from previous Black Fridays were pretty limited. I rarely see anyone using them and they were pretty hard to come by after Black Friday.

There are no prints on these right? That kind of limit the appeal tho... I am sort of... kind of... tempted... but I already have 2 DS lite and 1 DSi... and really don't want to add another before the XL.

i think i just wait for the XL to come out... no reason right now to even own a DSI (no DSI only games out there yet and there are really no MUST OWN downloads)

how are the games PRELOADED ??

dont know know

system 155
3 year warrnety 22

so you will have a system under warrenty for 3 years for less then 180.... not that bad of a deal....

How are the hinges on this? I have a DSLite and I always heard about how sensitive the hinges were so I always leave it open it put it on a high shelve to keep it safe, wouldn't mind selling that and upgrading.

I've never had a single problem with the hinges on my DSLite and I've slept on top of it countless times... I treat it well for the most part but that thing has been everywhere with me in just a soft case and nothing has happened in a couple years. Maybe it's because I've got one of the Japanese models?

DSi is the biggest sham since the pspgo.

there are no games for the dsi. sure they keep saying "in the future," but thats super dumb. this is like the first system that doesnt have launch titles utilizing the hardware. and btw, the dsiware doesnt mean jack!

dsilite ftw babY! all hail the dsi lite!

I actually like DSi. I think the camera and the related software is incredibly fun and I can only imagine that being more so for younger kids or ppl in school. Great things to mess around with.

I kept my DSlite for GBA and one is pokemon one, but otherwise, I think DSi is a pretty good update. Not necessary for happy DSlite users as there is still nothing that is a system seller, but still a good update.

true the camera functions are a bit neat, not gonna lie about that...

but i just wish they had some games that utilized the faster hardware, and that camera. for whatever uses they intend for that camera to have i dont know, but give us something!

yeah, besides myself, i've never seen anyone using a red mario DS in public... seems like only collector's picked one up...

the red Mario DS and Brain Age bundles were Christmas bundles, not BF bundles. I think the same with Zelda and Nintendogs.

Other limited DS's.. Animal Crossing, Mario Kart (original red DS), the cooking one, and the Pokemon DS Lite.

I bought a Zelda DS from a friend of mine when he upgraded to a DSi.. man, he made a bad choice!

I just noticed these in Best Buy's Black Friday ad. I'm somewhat tempted with the blue one, more because of the color than the games (though it is a nice plus) I kind of like the other blue and think the metallic may be too similar to my DS Lite, so I'm not sure if I will actually bite or not. I don't really need one right now and was only planning to buy one if the price was really good, but I still like the color.

I still kind of regret not getting the Mario DS Lite last year. I actually seen it at Wal-Mart last year and could have bought one, but already had two and didn't need it, so I decided not to get it, even though I really liked it. I always wished I had after I left it, but they were gone pretty quickly... I recently found one at Play N Trade that seemed to be in perfect shape, but no box, it was gone the next day too :D

And one side note. On the mention of DSi games, I thought this was kind of interesting because I've also been looking for some DSi only games. Gamestop sent an e-mail tonight with this game in it: http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=76253 I'm not sure if it is any good, but that was the first game I've heard or seen that was exclusive to the DSi, so I thought I would post :D

The Mario, Zelda, and Nintendogs bundles were all on sale BF. The Brain Age bundle was the initial release of the crimson/black one during the spring.

These bundles are going to be part of Amazon's BF Console Specials! Well, does anyone think they might be cheaper than the current pre-order price, or are these just going to be the current discounted pre-order price?

Special Offers and Product Promotions
Color: Metallic Blue | Edition: Bundle
Pre-order Price Guarantee! Order now and if the Amazon.com price decreases between your order time and the end of the day of the release date, you'll receive the lowest price. Here's how (restrictions apply)

I think the pre-order price guarantee should have that covered. I doubt it will drop in price, may actually go up but you never know. Very happy to see these available to order now instead of on Friday. Christmas shopping is now officially completed for the kids!

This is seriously tempting. I'd definately get it if I didn't know the XL was coming out. I was waiting for the right color (and this is the perfect one, metallic blue). I'll just have to cross my fingers and hope a metallic blue XL comes out I think though. I play my DS mostly at home, so the increased size is more of a gain than a loss.

All the XL screen does is stretch the image (rather than scale it). The only benefit is if you have a hard time reading text. The games themselves will look worse.

I might be reading it wrong, but it sounds like the bundle is going to be one of the special BF Lightning Deals. I don't believe Gold Box/Lightning Deals are covered by that Guarantee.

Of course, it could be that the current $15 savings is the deal, but that's why I was asking...

If only one of the features of the DSi was a Virtual Console which gave you access to past handheld games. I'd be all over this deal. *sigh*

That said, white seems like a really strange color for a special edition. I guess it's for people that want it to match their Wii, heh.

Nothing about lighting deals/gold box not being covered in here:
Pre-order Price Guarantee
Amazon.com's price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and shipped. Whenever you pre-order a book, CD, video, DVD, software, or video game, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you placed your order and the end of the day of the release date. A pre-order price guarantee message will appear on your Order Summary during the checkout process. If you use 1-Click ordering, pre-order price protection will be automatically applied. The order summary in Your Account will reflect the lowest price within 24 hours of the price change.
Terms and Conditions:

 • Pre-order Price Guarantee applies only to items sold by Amazon.com, and not to items (or prices) offered by other sellers on our site. Does not apply to any products purchased at Amazon.com's other sites, including Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.co.jp, Amazon.ca, or any other web site operated by Amazon.com or its affiliates.
 • Pre-order Price Guarantee applies only to not-yet-released books, CDs, videos, DVDs, software, and video games sold by Amazon.com. It does not apply to other product lines or to items that have already been released.
 • Pre-order Price Guarantee applies only to qualifying items displaying the offer message on their product detail pages. Items that do not display the offer message do not qualify, regardless of the nature of the items.
 • If your order enters the shipping process before the release date and the price is lowered before the end of the day of the release date, we will automatically refund your credit card for the difference between the price you were charged and the release-date price. If you did not use a credit card to pay for your order, please contact Customer Service.

So if I order now, and I get denied my Lightning Deal Pre-order price guarantee on BF, I can ask you for the refund? ;)

Yeah, I was quite surprised to see these bundles up early Monday with the cheaper pricing. I ordered one almost immediately. I used the $30 off console code I had from the trade-in promo PLUS my $10 NSMB credit auto-applied to it! I was pretty surprised by that. I posted all this in the main Amazon BF deals thread but it got buried quickly. This is one of the better deals I've seen so far and it doesn't require any lightning deal shenanigans. (I thought it was a better deal than the almost sold out instantly crimson DS Lite they had at noon).

Yep, I can definitely confirm that the Zelda bundle was a BF thing 2 years ago. I had one preordered from my local Gamecrazy, actually, Scorch. My son (who just turned 2 today actually) was born on Black Friday 2 years ago and luckily the GC guys held my DS for me as obviously any shopping was out that day.

Well, the Best Buy ad has it for regular price but they offer a $20 gift card with all DSi's I think. So at best Amazon may match that - raising the price to MSRP and giving a $20 promo credit for future purchases. If so, I'd have no problem with my early lock-in of the $15 off. But hopefully Cheapy is right and they will cover any drop in price, lightning deal or otherwise. Though I've had trouble with them before dropping prices on preordered games on release day - didn't get any credit until I fired off emails about it.

However, I think it is just listed on the Amazon BF deals page simply because these are being put out by Nintendo as BF bundles - the "deal" is that you get the pre-installed software. I doubt they will go much lower than the current $155.

I've been following the DSi's a lot this holiday because both of my kids want them. I had actually bought to DSi's from Freddie's about two weeks ago when they had them with $15 gift cards. I returned them after I found out about the BF bundles and prepared myself to stand in-line during BF at either BB, Target, or GameStop. After coming home and returning those DSi's yesterday I see the bundles were on Amazon... instant pre-order. If Amazon doesn't "match" the $20 gift cards that Target and BB are offering, I'm fine with that. They're already giving $15 off directly which is better and then I "lose" $10 for not having to stand in-line with a bunch of crazies? Sounds too good to be true. I just hope those DSi bundles ship :)

Since it doesn't seem like it's been answered , any idea how the dsiware games being preloaded works? If I delete the games off the system will I be able to redownload them? Can they be deleted at all? Can they be linked up to my club nintendo/my nintendo account? The system bundles seem like really good deals , but these questions are making me hesitate on biting.

I actually bought the Triforce edition that came with Zelda Phantom Hourglass that i still own and will still keep once i buy the new DSI Mario edition. Kinda wish the DS was mixed with red and blue for colors of Mario but i guess i cant win it all.
I don't think you can redownload them. You can probably move them to an SD card though.
That's what I'm afraid of. That might be a deal breaker for me.

Holding out for Friday. Hopefully they at least throw in a game or something. Need to get rid of my $30 console coupon(from an old trade-in promo, don't bother asking how to get one) and looking for a DSi or PSP 3000 but not trying to pay $125 for the DS

Everyone is saying you can pre-order now and request a credit for any additional price drop on Friday. I sure hope they are right about that--sometimes amazon will put the pre-order into "Shipping Soon" status way before they actually ship it and then you have to call/email them for assistance. Worse case scenario is they ship it prior to Friday and then I'll be screwed.

At that point, they have to do it as a credit post-purchase, which for you, nets out to the same thing. Payment's been requested from your payment method, which is why they can't change the price.

Usually, if it's shipped but not received, you can usually get them to refund the difference for any price drop, though when it's in your hands and doesn't have a Pre-Order Price Guarantee on it, it's quite a bit harder.

I just preordered the mario collection. The funny thing is my first DS, the DS PHAT, was also a Mario Bundled version that was the same blue that this one is. I hated to see it go but its great to get a remake of it and this time i will not sell it.

Oh and check this out, you get a bonus promotional code email from amazon. Heres what i got:

"As someone who recently purchased a qualifying Video Game on Amazon.com, you have automatically qualified for $5 of credit on select TV shows on Amazon Video On Demand. To use your credit please write down or copy the promotional code above and visit http://www.amazon.com/tvpromo."

Neat

When I preordered it yesterday they prominently displayed that the preorder price guarantee applies until the end of the day on Friday. I know in practical terms it is harder to get adjustments once it ships, but I don't see how they can weasel out of that guarantee no matter when they actually ship it or change the order status.

I hadn't thought of them maybe throwing in a free game or something - that would be harder to get "matched".
