Marvel ordered to pay Stan Lee for profits from Spiderman movies

alright! now on to plan two, beat up michael jackson, and take back the rights to the beatles songs....

I wonder what work or money (if any) Marvel had to put into the movies. Does anyone know what arrangement Marvel had with Sony?

If Marvel did not sink anything into the movie, and actually only received profits, then Stan totally deserves what he is entitled.

So go buy Spiderman 2 and help Stan out.
Lee got too much.
what are you on crack, the man started the silver age of the marvel universe. the money thats coming to him from the movies is well deserved. the man is a genius and an icon.

Did Stan Lee also come up w/ The Hulk? If he gets 10% of the winnings from that movie, that means he could make a whole 5 dollars!

Yep, its just a damn shame his company imploded in the early 90's and never really recovered. Now its owned by those marketing jokers who own Wizard right? Or has it been sold a dozen times since then....??

Marvel abandoned creativity and continuity in favor of marketing and flash in an effort to sell even more books, and the whole market nearly collapsed around them.

Really the whole market followed suit......comics became too big and then, just like Dot Coms, everyone stopped and said "So, what am I actually GETTING for all this money I'm spending?". instant market crash :p

Good question...

I'm all for this one...

He should get some money, but 10%...wow seems a bit extreme. Most screenwriters, who create all the characters in a film, and some actors and directors, don't ever see 10% of the films they make.

I liked his cameo on the simpsons, where he breaks the kids batmobile by putting the thing in it, and then he thinks hes the hulk. pure hilarity
He should get paid. I want to know how much that 10% is.
I don't know about net profit, but the box office gross for the first two films was about $780,000,000.
^^I like the tight spandex on the chick, junk in the trunk
The same actress (Jessica Alba) is in Sin City. Check out the trailer (its on quicktime.com). Yowza!

Plus... it looks like a damn good comic book movie.
So I assume the net profit was at least $300,000,000 - 400,000,000. In my eyes about $30,000,000 dollars is a bit on the excessive side.
I think they are talkin about out of how much Marvel made from because Sony gets a large amount of the cash.

That would make more sense.

10% of $245,284,946 ....

didn't sue and johnny from fantastic four have blond hair? i think they should show in the movie that sue (jessica alba) is a TRUE blond  ...if hollywood can't even get the shaqfuing hair color right, i hate to see what else the screw up when this thing comes to the big screen...oh well at least they have spiderman 1-20 to keep all of the flops coming in hopes of a hit.

Uh her hair is blonde for the film, but I don't know about Johnny's hair color, the poster makes it look a little red, but I can't tell.

Ah yeah true, thugh from all the marvel movie merchandise and such I expect that $30,000,000 isn't too far off.
