Anyone else get one?

Comments?

I preordered this almost 2 years ago from their website. I don't remember them ever charging me, but they gave me a check for $29.95. Oh well, I'll find something to spend it on.

I was always puzzled as to why this game got delayed so many times. Can it be that hard to put 5-7 Gameboy games on a Gameboy Advance cart??
The originals were monochrome is my guess.
So? Leave em monochorome! I was really hoping this would still see the light of day. Oh well. Thanks for the update.

I doubt many would be as interested if they released them in their 100% original form. The would not even fill the GBA screen then, unless you played them in stretch mode. No thanks.

Thank goodness for the PSP.

What I heard is that the original code was apparently lost or destroyed, and they were having to rebuild some of the games by scratch.

Not sure how accurate this is, or even where I read it from, since it was over a year ago.

the collection actually has borders to fit the bigger gba screen.

I'm amused how 1337 computer nerds can build emulators for the most obscure systems, dump the must difficult of ROMs, break the hardest encryption tables, but a HUGE corporation with paid programmers can't seem to figure out how to put a few GameBoy/Color games on a GameBoy Advance cartridge.

I could see them misplacing "Fox Hunt" or some other nonsense...but fucking Mega Man?

As WSB points out, this doesn't explain why they merely don't try to emulate them on a single cartridge - that would have been the cheap and fast way of going about it.

I like to make note of when I actually LoL. This time I did. Gratz.

OUCH!

My friend has been waiting for this to be released for ages. I was even going to buy it myself. Only problem I was looking forward to this title years ago! Capcom said it was still in the works, but apparently It's done for good now. Atleast my Gameboy versions will be worth something still.

You can Spend $30 on Mega Man X Collection for $20 after $10 off BB coupon. You still have extra $10 left if you don't wanted it you can send it to me, lolz :)

I was under the impression that the gameboy was essentially a black and white NES system..used the same coding and such. Is it that hard to dump the handful of GB games onto a GBA cart? Hell I can do that right now with a flashcart and 15 minutes of internet searching.
Sucks, this would have been great on the go.

Bummer... Was just catching up on some news on n-sider.com and saw this item. I really can't imagine it was technical issues that prevented it from being released. My guess is that they yanked it based on low profit estimates or wanted to do something else with the games down the road (Revolution virtual console maybe?).

That's what I read too, it was on 1up.com in an article about lost or continually delayed games (a la Duke Nukem Forever).

This is what I found from 1up:

The compilation's producer says they've had trouble locating the original source code for many of the games, forcing complete rewrites of code in some areas. The game's still coming, but it can no longer be confirmed as a Game Boy Advance release, making a DS release more than likely

I believe that was the official resonse from Capcom posted on IGN or Gamespot.

To be fair, it's not as simple as dumping ROMs on a cartridge. I'm sure that they want to colorize these and maybe tweak a few things around (i.e. reformatting the aspect ratio, as many have pointed out). They can't just use ROMs for that. Fault Capcom for losing the code, but the argument that "any nerd could do this" isn't really fair IMO.

Ah, this sucks for all the hardcore MM fans. I'm cool with it, no big deal. I was looking forward to it, but hell I've yet to even buy any MM collection! Maybe they will now have time for Megaman Legends 3...:)
