Memory cards for Japanese PS2?

I have been thinking about importing a Japanese PS2 from play-asia.com and I was curious about a few things.

I noticed that play-asia.com only sells PS2 memory cards from the "Asia" region. This might seem like a silly question, but are PS2 memory cards region protected? Specifically, could I use these "Asia' region memory cards? Or even better, US PS2 memory cards?

Also, there have been a few "special edition" Hori PS2 memory cards that I wanted, but play-asia.com no longer has them. Anyone know of any other places that would have them BESIDES ebay?

Maybe yesasia will have some of those memory cards.

toysnjoys has some stuff listed but they suck. CALL FIRST to check stock availability.

There's no region lock or anything of that sort for PS2 memory cards or any other accessories.

NCSX.com has a bunch of weird PS2 memory cards. They're super-reliable.

And yes, memory cards are universal along with just about every peripheral (barring the DC lightguns, ing Columbine).

You can buy memory cards from North America and use them on a Japanese PS2.

I have a Japanese PS2, it works fine.
