Metal Gear Solid 1 or 2?

CAGiversary!
Which storyline did you like better? Althought most people may answer to 1 simply because they didn't like playing as Raiden

One had an easier to follow story. If we go by face value, MGS1 wins. If you go by deeper meaning, then MGS2 is better.

MGS1 was more about 'nukes are bad' than anything else. It had a sub-story of Snake coming to grips with his existence. MGS2, on the other hand, was about the future and taking control of one's destiny. Much deeper stuff. But it was presented a bit poorly (half hour cut scenes?).
The first one, I did not mind being Raiden, but his character was not as solid as snakes
HAHAHAHAHAH THE WAS fuckING PUNNY!!!!!

Story Line I'd say the Original was better, mainly because it made sense and didnt leave you saying "WTF?" at the end. I understand MGS2 story line but I had to play threw it again to full grasp it, it had way to many twists and turns missing one thing would totally throw you off. SO I'd say the original was by far the best story. Plus the fact you couldn't play as snake really turned me off in MGS2, it's all about Snake for me in a MGS playing, durring the whole 2nd half of the game I was saying to myself 'When will I play as snake again damn it'.

Short Answer, Metal Gear Soild Original.

I liked the original more, mainly because there wasn't even Snakeage.

And the fact that you hid under cardboard boxes... blew me away.

BLEW ME AWAY.

id say MGS 2 because not only did it have a good story but when they said that it was a different version of what happened in MGS. i was like "Holy shit how did i not realize this? Everything is slightly similar now that i think about it..."

I like MGS2 more, but I can understand why people would like the 1st one more. MGS2 bombards you with so much info at the end.

Well since MGS2 is a rehash of MGS1 withthe guise of it being a Live training exercise based on Snakes experience in MGS1...I'd say MGS1. Better enemies, better Ninja, better hero, better over all

I have been meaning to play both of them again. I love how Twin Snakes brings you closer to the 2nd one *never had a PSX, my friend is big into Metal Gear and pointed out differences*

mgs:1 was what got me hooked and so is the best imo, although mgs:2 isnt very far off cause the story was pretty solid in that one also. looking forward to the third installment (or fourth if u count the gb version).

The GameBoy Metal Gear supposedly takes place in an alternate universe, away from the other games. Crazy but that's what Kojima says.

yea the game boy one was pretty good...for a gameboy game..but the first one was better, story was great and snake was more of a badass in that one..

I cant believe you people that say the story of the first one was better because it didnt have as many twists and turns and was confusing...Im sorry but that just sounds to me like your dumb and ignorant...I think its one of the first games to make you THINK to understand the story...I mean...Its really cool to see someone making a story that you have to think about that isnt just blunt...Like "Oh so he saved the world!...I think I saw this in another game" I mean come on...I like twists and turns and confusing plot lines...I mean other wise its dull and makes you feel dumb. I mean I loved the first one but the story line of the second one just blows the first one out of the water...I do think that the first one had some better gameplay and I just love the psycho mantis scene...But 2 had a better story line by far! This has all been brought to you by: "In My Opinion" stories

I'm neither dumb nor ignorant (Last time I checked my IQ it was at 143), The Story of the 1st MGS I found better it's an opinion nothing else. The plot of MGS2 pulled you in so many god damn directions in less than 30 seconds it just didn't leave a solid (No Pun intended) story feeling at the end. MGS2 story was great, awesome, I just found the 1st story more solid then the 2nd. Theres a difference between a good twisting plot thats well done, and between a plot that has so many twists turns that at the end of the story it doesn't leave you with a soild feeling of black and white. With MGS2 it's mostly Gray. It's just a mater of opinion thats all, has nothing to do with being dumb or ignorant, MGS 2 and MGS1 are Legends of Gaming and are both awesome games on there own feet.
Wait...I think i meantioned it was brought to you by: "In My Opinion"

so it's ok to call people "dumb and ignorant" cause they don't agree with you, but not when someone disagrees with you with out resorting to name calling thats not ok

humph...well you got the dumb and ignorant part rigth, you just applied it to the wrong people.

I have to say mgs2 hands down. It is my favorite game ever. I loved how deep the story was and the plot twists kept it fresh and you on the edge of your seat. It was the first game to really impact me as deep and enthralling. Once i picked up the controller I was sucked in. Then when I was done until Twin Snakes came out I was a lost soul.

MGS:TTT >>> MGS2: S

MGS2's story just came off convolted and non-sensical (especially towards the end). Where as MGS1 had a more fluid, hollywood-action-movie stly story.
