check out your local Gamestop or Ebgames for $20-ish. Go GS website get the local stores number and give them a call. Possible they have gutted copy for you :)
 
You could also keep tabs on Amazon every so often. I remember seeing it on Amazon a couple times for 19.99 if memory serves me correct...most likely during their Black Friday and once or twice again after that.
 
Konami discontinues their games way too early. Sellers of used copies know this, and price them way too high on eBay, etc. If you can find it for $28, buy it.

The sad thing about GS and EB is that in my area (The middle of nowhere, California) the closest GS is about 40 miles away and the last time I visited they hadn't even heard of the game.

On Amazon, I did miss out on the deal during Black Friday but I'll be sure to keep tabs on what's going on.

And what I've been fearing for a while now is the possibility that Konami has discontinued the game and I could miss out on catching it for 28 before it goes up to 45 like the scalpers do on Ebay.

Ive heard that its been rare to find and all that and people on ebay have been upping the price, but I see it all the time. I say just wait to find a good deal online or search your local kmarts and bestbuys. Although crunch has a point, if you see it for 30 just pick it up since the 10 bucks you save probably isnt worth the chance of missing out on the collection.

What part of California could you possibly be in to be that far from a GS? Northern Cali? Malibu?
 
It's a very small town on the central coast. Pretty much the middle of nowhere, especially when it comes to good gaming stores.
 
i just want one for MGS 1 and the box

and really hate it when games get RARE

I agree, it seems to be running out of stock everywhere. I guess I'll have to try my luck in a GS somewhere more than 100 miles of here.
