My friend just beat Zero Mission and told me the game is only 3 hours long? Is this true? If so, Nintendo has some pretty big balls to be releasing crap like this.

its 3 hours long if you skip everything. Also Metroid has never been long if you know where things are.I can beat SM in less than 2 hours of the game clock(though its not real time its pretty close)

I know they all CAN be beaten really quickly...but 3 hours on a first run through seems short. I blame it on the damn auto mapping and telling you where to go.
quality my friend quality. id rather play 3 hours of metroid zero mission than 100 hours of shrek super party.
I agree quality, but there are plenty of quality games that are out that arent beaten in one sitting.

Its not long at all. my little brother (aged 12) finished in about 4 hours 30 minutes.

Isn't there a different ending for beating under 2 hours or something?

I agree... Lately games seem so damn long. I just want to get down to the nitty gritty so I can say I finished it.

have you even played it? if u had you would know its clearly not crap... its an amazing shooter/platformer, just because a game isnt a 50 hour epic dosent mean it isnt enjoyable

Well I don;t think the game wil be crap at all, I'm sure it would be an enjoyable 3 hours. I'm just saying I think I personally would be pissed if I dropped 30 dollars on a game, took it home and beat it in one sitting.

who here pays full price for games?

I just bought the game (BB had a sale, and GGC), and it is amazing. Even though it is short (Im at about 3:20 and near the end), it is AMAZING. Its what Games are all about. And for replay value, when you beat it, you unlock the NES Metroid, and Hard mode. And there are some Hard parts in Normal that are going to be Near impossible in Hard mode. Also, there is a gallery, and new pictures are added based on time and how many items you get. EG, theres a different ending if you get less than 15% of the items in under 2 hours beaten. Thats pretty much the bare minimum. If you do that on hard mode, you are a master
Maybe it's just my cheap ass nature, but paying 30 or 40 dollars for a 3 hour game just does not seem worth it to me.
$30 or $40? More like $20 (That is what I paid, anyway, and I know I'm not alone). If one wants, one can sell it after finishing, and probably make back most or all of the cost. I'd rather play a great 3 hour game than not play it.

Here's the the thing, Metroid was built on exploration so they expect you to not exactly go where you're supposed to immediately and waste time trying to find extra energy and weapons.

The whole "telling you where to go" is a bit overblown. Yeah, they let you know what your next objective is. Normally you'd just run around trying to find which of the hundreds of locked doors is open to pass through... but you can still do this even with the newer games and still end up with a 6-12 hours play time.

It's all in an effort to keep the short attention span having mainstream audiance from zoneing out after running the same hallway 30 times.

all of the metroid games were made to be beaten in 2 hours or under. stop crying that its not a epic 40 hour rpg with 4 disc's

Just get it. I've played through it twice already, the first time took me around 9 hours game time to finally get 100%. It is incredibly well designed and worth your time and money.

its been done. World record is 1:46 and change

But does that mean it was intended to be beaten in under two hours? Its like saying FFX was meant to be beaten in 11 hours or something. Just because its possible doesn't mean it was the intention.

well there are a lot of short cuts built into the game. People say you can get the space jump right off the bat, whih makes many things happen quicker. I agree that it probably was not meant to be beaten under 2 hours, but last time I played I was at 21 percent complete and only 43 minutes in. I am sure after you beat the game for the third or fourth time you know where everything is and the game is much easier.
