Michelle Obama: A woman of the people.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/17/AR2009091703679_pf.html

I heard this on Rush on Friday. Nobody here has mentioned it.

Should there be any penalty for her or anybody else in this type of position since she could have just sent one of her two dozen plus attendants out for kale?
Bigger question: Would all that security be needed if we didn't have wackjobs that would kill the first lady?

At least she isn't one to shy away from shopping/public. But if I were cooking too, I wouldn't send just anyone out to grab something important either.

Of course it was wasteful, what can a politician/politican's family possibly do that isn't comparatively wasteful? Especially the family of the president. There are always guards around the white house, are you going to get up in arms about the expense it requires to guard the president while he's taking a shit or watching TV? It's much cheaper when I take a shit.

One of the things Michelle Obama has been going for is more gardening/fresh foods/farmer's markets. Hence the gardening and farmer's market.

Send a staffmember of the kitchen for mundane tasks.

Sending a staffmember to a farmer's market is going to promote farmer's markets?

Nobody's actually under the impression that Michelle Obama aided the setup of a farmer's market, went there and spoke to the people in order to buy food are they?

(I ignored that sending an unnecessary paid staffmember is actually wasteful, as it is obviously less wasteful, if the goal was to buy food).

I'm under the impression she went there to buy kale and fouled up traffic in the process.
What the hell is kale?

Damn it, someone buy that woman some sodas and chips. Then she can eat like "the people".
rich suburban people food.

To be honest I don't really care about the taxpayer money. I don't care if she did it midday.

But if she goes out in DC rush hour and fucks up my commute for this chickenshit, they might as well not bother hitting me up for a donation anytime this century.
Why were you listening to Rush Limbaugh in the first place?
I used to listen on any day off until his drug bust.

Nowadays, I just want to hear what that side is thinking. Boss Limbaugh is their best spokesperson.

This. For me though, it isn't Rush, its Glenn 'rapeandmurder' Beck. He is very entertaining, even if you disagree with him.

I have to be in the right mood to listen to Rush.

For example, I listened to Rush while replacing the internals of my toilet.

Same. I watch Glenn Beck while painting with poop.

If I ate that cookie, would I have a cookie eating grin on my face?

No, you'd be a weepy fatso:

WAKE UP AMERICA! SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH GLENN BECK, YOU FEEL IT AND SO DO I, WE NEED TO ASK QUESTIONS!/endrant

Well, let's see if we can get this topic back on serious for a few posts.

On one hand, I don't think a politician should become a prisoner in their own home.
On the other hand, the voices inside of me are screaming at what a waste of money such an act would be.

Ideally, it'd be nice if we could trust politicians to use their best judgment in cases like this.
