Might be a little old, but this is a nice program i found out about recently

Microsoft DreamSpark enables students to download Microsoft developer and design tools at no charge.

Now, for the first time, Microsoft is giving its valuable software developer and design tools directly to students worldwide at no charge! This site enables students like you to download professional-level Microsoft developer and design tools to unlock your creative potential and set you on the path to academic and career success, by supporting and advancing your learning and skills through technical design, technology, math, science and engineering activities.

In order to get this software from Microsoft at no charge, you will be asked to establish or verify your student status once every 12 months. This process is built into this DreamSpark site itself. Verification of valid student status will enable students from around the globe to download Microsoft developer and design tools at no charge. Note: You must be at least 18 years old or have otherwise reached the age of majority in the place (province, state or country) where you live, or if not, your parent or legal guardian must accept the Microsoft DreamSpark software license terms on your behalf, in order for you to download and use the software.

It is our hope that the DreamSpark program will spark your creativity and help you harness software’s transformative magic to turn your good ideas into reality, by equipping you with the tools you need to succeed and excel during your academic experience and skills you will need after graduation.

just wanted to note that this program is great
i've installed both visual studio 08 and microsoft expression suite

work perfectly :)

A little history about Expression:

Expression used to created by a company called Creature House (and an older company called Metacreations). Its was suppose to be the vector version of Corel Painter. I have a copy of the older Expression software but honestly I could not get into it much. It was a pretty stable program though and it had potential.

Microsoft bought Creature House and I guess they expanded the program to include other stuff. I guess they eventually want to go head-to-head with Adobe eventually.

yeah i used to use microsoft front page back in the day
guess that's been replaced by expression web

gonna give it a shot in the next few weeks
i used to love front page, so hopefully expression web will be good too

Expression Web is nice for it's CSS style management and Visual Studio-esque IDE. I use it on a daily basis and love it. Blend shows a lot of promise in 2.0 with it's inclusion of Silverlight but adoption of XAML based design is slow.

Visual Studio 2008 is a GODSEND for ASP.NET developers. Over the last two versions MS has really shown us the love with each new version. If you're a student I HIGHLY recommend getting these a familiarizing yourselves with MS development. No other company takes care of it's developers like MS. :)
Too bad high schoolers cant get in.
Bump because tons of stuff got changed.

Now Dreamspark has been offering Windows Server 2008, which is like getting a free copy of Vista and all the extras but without the bloat. And you can use it like a normal workstation. DON'T LET ANYONE ELSE TELL YOU OTHERWISE, THEY ARE FUCKING LIARS. This is how you make Server 2008 as a Workstation: http://www.win2008workstation.com/wordpress/

And it looks like Dreamspark changed within the last two weeks because CCR and DSS Toolkit 2008 and Robotics Developer Studio 2008 were not there last time I checked. These are are VERY new.

It's been nearly a year and I think anyone eligible is deserving of knowing about this.

Server 2008 is still there along with 2008 R2. And since some of you like Visual Studio, VS2010 Professional is there.

Students can now develop for Windows Marketplace for Mobile. Dreamspark waives the $99 registration fee.

Thanks for the bump. I would have never found it if you didn't do it.
