Most Corrupt Local City Politics

I was just reading an article about local DC politics and I was thinking about how corrupt this city's local politics are. We have:

Former DC mayoral candidate Sulaimon Brown showing up (in shades) to give testimony about the rampant corruption within the current DC mayor's office and DC council in a hearing full of "insults, revelations, derisive laughter, anger and foolishness". You know it's bad when Marion Barry is taking you to task for being too corrupt.

DC Council member Harry Thomas allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars intended for children and sports teams.

DC Council member Brown "swiftly moving online gambling legislation through the council -- without any public hearings -- he also received more than $200,000 in 2010 earnings from his employer Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge, an international law firm active in gambling issues."

And don't get me started on the mayor himself - who is up to his elbows in scandals.

Does anyone live near a city with more corruption then DC?

How would we know? The point of corrupt people is to hide it, DC certainly has some of the dumbest criminals though.

Corruption is so rampant here it couldn't help but to boil over into the public eye.

The second story is the most salacious. If the allegations are true, it's pretty low to steal from kids programs. Pretty damn low.

As opposed to? I mean if you really look at it most of the school admin department are stealing from kids now a days.

I live in Waterbury, CT where every city politician is crooked. Last year they finished remodeling city hall, and the newspaper published a picture of some former mayors standing outside the new building, and the caption was a quote from an onlooker that read "It looks more like a prison reunion to me".

I wouldn't say our local politicians are that corrupt, they're just fucking stupid. For example, in an effort to "beautify the city" part of an unneeded turning lane was turned into this grassy median with fancy little street lights and all, this while the streets are deteriorating. It's just that their priorities seemed all screwed up, they're trying hard to make the town seem more upscale, which if we could do that and still maintain everything else would be fine, but apparently we can't.

Not my city, but North Providence, RI recently had a big trial involving fraudulent home giveaways that were collaborated on with a lite-rock radio DJ. Providence's old mayor, also from North Providence, served time in jail some while back. The newest one involves someone from the city using $20,000 in state funds to renovate her home.
