Most Disturbing Movie Poster Ever?

nevposey

CAGiversary!
I was intrigued by the initial poster for Haunting in Connecticut...then poster became animated, and I am so disturbingly intrigued that I can barely articulate it: http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/haunting-in-connecticut-motion-poster.html

I happen to love horror movies, so this is right up my alley...but between the poster and the trailer, I'm definitely sold. This movie has had some of the creepiest assets I've seen in a bit, and I'm thrilled to see an addition to the horror genre that's not just another sequel to Saw.

I agree with you , most horror movies are kinda lame but this one looks to be on point!!! Whoever keeps making those saw movies . . . just stop . . please!!!

I like the idea of Flash movie posters....I can see the future ...people walking down the street and there are moving billboards and movie posters. Kinda like in Blade Runner

This movie looks like your run of the mill cheap thrill probably less horror and more thing jumping out.

They should make a genre for these types of movies beacuse it certainly isnt horror.

The pilot episode of Discover channel's "A Haunting" was based on this story.

The story was based on a book. The author later came out and maligned the family and the Warrens (so called ghost busters) that were involved, saying that it was fake and made up.

I have seen that episode and read the book.
Looks like the motion picture is avoiding the themes of necrophilia that was implied in the book.
The Amityville Horror is the only thing I believe. That book will give you goosebumps.
Well that's another one that isn't entirely true. In both cases (this connecticut one and the amityville horror), I'm pretty sure people bought the houses and live in them still today just fine.

I was expecting better to be honest. The sound effects are what really drive the "poster", the actual graphics look alright.

On the other hand, the poster for Silent Hill sorta creeped me out when I first seen it.

Remember the movie "the strangers" with liv tyler that came out like a year ago? It had like 3 weirdos in masks.
They said that was a true story but it turned out it was based on some ideas of stuff that sort of happened...they think.
So, yeah "true story" is probably just an attempt at a good sell.

I stay away from "true story" horror movies (and horror movies in general). I think it's kinda crappy to be entertained by how someone else lost their life in the way horror films present them (gory fun).

Good example The Texas Chainsaw Massacre:

Despite being heavily touted as "inspired by a true story," both Tobe Hooper's original 1974 film and the 2003 Marcus Nispel remake are only lightly based on the real-life murderer Ed Gein, who is suspected to have taken several victims between 1954 and 1957. Perhaps the most recognizable similarity is the film's house, whose gruesome content was similar to that found in Ed Gein's home in 1957.

Both Norman Bates from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) and Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs (1991) were also loosely based on Ed Gein:

Why the hell do movie executives/writers/whothefuckever is responsible here think that young children are the scariest things in the world?

Small children throwing up zero-g evil, motherfucker.
i think PG-13 horror films are a joke, and should be stricken from the earth.
Generally I agree with you but there are exceptions to the rule- Poltergeist is one that I remember was pretty good.

Alma from FEAR, the girl from The Ring. Those were cool, but this shit is getting old. Watched Shutter the other night and it's the same tired gimmick.

i saw the commercial for this today and i hope its as good as it seems. theres this one scene where a kid cuts off the tv and you see a figure in the doorway reflected onto the turned off tvs screen. creeeeepy . seeing that commercial reminded me of how weak most horror is now. the last thing i saw that bugged me out was the japanese versions of the ring.

I think it was just obnoxious. It should loop smoothly, that jarring reset and the shitty "music" are just annoying.
apparently it's based on a "true" story?
Love how they do that now... Probably has a kid named Matt and there was once a Matt that thought he was possessed.... automatic true story.

Alma and the girl from the ring were already fucking expired. This whole creepy kid cliche has been going on for at least 50 years (village of the damned 1960).

off the top of my head:

Village of the damned
Children of the damned
Children of the corn
The shining
Poltergeist
The omen
The sixth sense
The ring (ringu)
The grudge
Hide and seek
The orphanage
Silent Hill
That shitty movie with kevin bacon (stir of echos?)

I googled out of curiosity, and the mom from the story, Carmen Reed, still does press about the incident and supports the film's take on it. I'm usually quite skeptical about "true" stories as well, but after watching the Discovery Channel special, it seems quite reasonable that this could have happened. (You can find the full special on You Tube if you're curious.) For me, the "true story" angle just puts it that much higher on my list of films to see. Curiosity just rules me, what can I say?

i tell you one great horror flick to check out thats based on real events is The Entity. fucking freakiest damn film ever. kind of has a porno thing going to it since the lead character is this wicked hott chick
who gets raped by a spirit repeatedly.

I think like "The Strangers" this movie is "inspired by true events" so they take bits and pieces of a story and add their own element to it so everything you see isn't entirely true.

I think it's the same for this movie.

wouldn't say its really that creepy. looks like RE monsters from the mouth/head

the movie does have the hot chick from Sex Drive (amanda crew)
