From now until further notice all preplayed PS2,XBOX and GC titles are 3.99. From the Movie Gallery store I work at I picked up 2 copies of Mercenaries 2 and Guitar Hero 3.

Also if your Movie Gallery has a Game Zone all preplayed Wii, 360 and PS3 games are 25% off. Most of the next gen games that are preplayed in the Game Zone sections come as trade-ins so you can generally find good copies its just that the selection wont be as good as a Gamestop.

Edit by Io - For those with Hollywood Videos around note that this sale applies only to stores that DO NOT have Gamecrazy's attached. Also, it is still highly YMMV at any given store. Some don't participate (manager's discretion) and some are just clueless and think you are talking about the concurrent $3.99 movie deal (which requires 2 rentals and only applies to movies $12.99 and under). I've gone to about 6 stores and have gotten about 4 different versions of the deal. There is a code they can scan that makes all these games come out to $3.99 no matter whether you rent or not and no matter what the original prices are - it is just YMMV whether they can A) Find that code and B) Choose to apply it to the games you want to buy ;).

Good to know, i passed on 2 Kirby air rides, wasn't sure what it was worth. Guess i'll be going back at least one more time. At least have until 12/25 now to trade them into gamestop or ebay them. Or even keep!

I cleaned off the one with Jelly i bought, i think it was grape.

All the ones i got are the hollywood video covers ugh. Mario Tennis had a manual, i think i'll keep that incase someone needs it.

Alright, which of the two local stores finally converted Futurama? I was looking for another copy since I got rid of my last gen games in February of this year. My copy I had from FYE was resurfaced with a Disc Doctor and had the telltale swirl marks on it.

You're all getting those because that's the pull list for conversion this week.
Most of the Mario games are on there (but the list I showed did not have a Mario Party on it, but the store had none anyway, so the list wouldnt show any). Zelda Four Swords, Pikmin 2...on XBOX KOTOR 2 and Jedi Knight are on there, and on the PS2 Futurama and Silent Hill 4 ...the list I got was pretty lengthy, but those are the highlights

I made a 700 mile round trip this weekend to hit 2 HWV and 12 MGs. The HWVs had been hit, but probably by FWers or SDers..the Zelda and Mario stuff was gone, and the big stuff was gone (Baldurs Gate, Disgaea, etc), but I still ended up with buying ALOT of games at the HWVs that are base TIV 5-7....moral is go get the list from the trade in thread, print it, and take it in...alot of the stuff I would never have guessed was worth it (Fast and the Furious, Rayman, etc).

Some of the MGs were unhit. I ended up averaging 40 games at the HWVs and 5-6 games at each MG worth buying

Pull lists are YMMV based on the store.

I saw KOTOR2 for sale at a HWV last week.
 
Yeah but I think a lot of stores had stock on these specific GC games and a lot of those stores got them pulled. You're seeing a lot of the same stuff across the country.
 
Saw Metroid Prime 2, Paper Mario, and Zelda Four Swords at a HWV I had been to before. I looked those all up on the GS trade-in thread on my iPhone and decided none were worth it considering the crappy-assed cases with no bar codes and probably equally crappy disc condition. They also had Kirby Air Ride which I've been passing up lots during this sale - I don't think that was a new pull, though as I'm pretty sure I saw it there 2 weeks ago as well. I only assumed it was worthless since much better games get far less. Wacky that it is $8. I may go back and pick that one up. I need to check out my local store - just 1/2 mile away from home. I haven't had time to run up there yet!

OK, now lets try to figure out a decent flip so we can get one last run in for the year and clean them out.

I was able to pickup Mario Tennis (GC) and Pikmin 2 (GC) today, and that just about made my day as I was planning a trip to move some credit from BBV to GS as it was, and this helped me get over 5 games.

Nope, I haven't been out this week, yet...

I did go to Eden Prairie and Savage last week and found a few things for my collection though.


There were a few things at Savage that might have been flippable, but without the Cellfire coupon it isn't worth the hassle
 
Made another trip today. Was a good trip. They had about 15 games I would have picked up but only got 9 or so. I chose wisely and not go for the $6 flips.

I bring those to the front and the guy was like "Wow, those were the games I put out yesterday." HAHAHA

On a sad note, I went to my other close store and they took the signs down for the sale. All of em. I didn't bother asking if it was still going on. I figure it best anyway, never really liked going in once or twice a week to check for new games. Glad I made out as good as I did though. :(

Think I'll make a stop by the Hennepin one unless you're headed that way. Only one really anywhere near me and so far this deal has been a huge bust for me so I'm not going to travel too far.

Is Gears for $30 YMMV now or completely dead?

Well I picked up Futurama (horrible generic case, disc is scratched to hell, and no manual!) (PS2) and Kingdom Hearts (Manual and GH disc). I saw Silent Hill 4 but I didn't know if it's worth the $3.99 since I only played the first one. The sad part about Futurama is that I bought it to play it. It plays fine but I was wondering if there was a kind hearted CAG out there who bought a couple of copies to flip if they would be willing to trade me a complete copy (or at least one with a manual) for my copy and possibly another filler game of mine? I love the show and I never got a chance to play the game until tonight. I actually enjoy it to tell you the truth but I wish I had a manual. Thanks!
 
Well, my local store had many of the things everyone else is seeing (but damn, no Pikmin 2 - wasn't even looking for that but I would have found it were it there ;)):

:ps2: Futurama
:ps2: Silent Hill 4
:gc: Kirby Air Ride
:gc: Paper Mario
:gc: Pokemon Colosseum

All but Silent Hill 4 were scratched to hell. The disc buffer worked on Futurama but it doesn't work so well on GC games so they still look pretty bad. I passed on Animal Crossing, SSBM, and Super Mario Sunshine because they were in even worse shape.

They also had about 8 copies of Spiderman 3 (PS2) that weren't there before. We don't have a quote for that one so I'll call about it tomorrow if no one else does. I'm not expecting much though.

Oh, and just for final confirmation I asked the trade-in for Gears of War - $10...
 
thanks for the heads up on the new drops, I got a few of the gamecube ones. I got pikmin 2, but when I got home and opened it, it was cars, wtf. I called and they said they can't find the pikmin 2 game, ahh ohh well.

All the games looked fantastic. Store manager seemed like a pretty cool guy.

Yeah it looks that way...a couple of stores I went to last night had just received shipments. Each of those stores received two long boxes of games. I would take a guess that there were 100 games per box.

One of the stores said they were going to ship them right back, they didn't want to put them out! Fortunately, they let me take a look through them. Found Mario Party 6, Kirby Air Ride, Futurama, and a few others. Nothing really that exciting.

I'm not sure what they sell the PS2 version for, but I know the Xbox version of Futurama was being sold for $14.99 from FYE. If you can't find a CAG to do that trade, I'd definitely suggest trying FYE.

Are you guys getting all these new GC conversions at HWV's? Or I guess, more correctly for my situation, have any of you found these new pulls and Movie Gallery's? I've been to a few of my local MG's, and haven't seen any of this new stuff. I'm thinking about a quick run tomorrow to check out about 5-6 more (no HWV's real close around here).
 
i got a whole punch of good gc games... i asked if they got new games in... he said no..... must have been rental conversions.....

Found a Star Wars Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy for the XBOX...suh-weet. Store also said they were getting another store's inventory either tomorrow or Thursday. Hoping for some goodies.

What is with KOTOR 2? I picked up a surprisingly decent copy a few weeks back amidst all the madness and was just going to throw it in with all my GS trade-ins. But then I realized it was an original (black label) copy and my own copy that I got here via a trade (it was a $5 clearance thing at Best Buy I believe) was a platinum hits copy. So I figured I'd keep the original version from HWV (since it was original art/manual and a near mint disc) and sell the sealed one on eBay. I figured if I could get $10 for it that would be great.

Lo and behold, it seems sealed KOTOR2's are super-rare now. I put it up as a $50 BIN and it sold :shock:. The used don't get nearly as much, but it might be a better option than GS.

Anyway, I'll be checking out a few more HWV tomorrow to see if I can scrounge up a few more things.
 
Unfortunately most of the games I was looking for to pick up at MG were already snagged or not already pulled. Talked to a guy at the counter bout it, and he basically said any game they'd sell for under 13 bucks I could pick up for 4. They didn't have much at the time, so I just grabbed a complete Raiden III. The game had only been rented once according to the guy at the counter.

i went to the nearest location and managed to get Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes for only $3.99!!!

I went last night to my local Movie Gallery. Either they haven't put anything out since I was there two weeks ago, or somebody else has been grabbing all the good stuff. Here's what I got last night:

I grabbed SSBM and San Andreas to trade at GS, and Vice City Stories for my personal collection. The VCS is complete and in mint condition. The San Andreas disc is in the worst shape I've ever seen a game be in, so it will be getting returned.
 
Isn't Hollywood Video the store with the resurfacing machines? If that's true then I can't imagine why they wouldn't buff the crappy-looking discs prior to selling them.

Wow. IIRC, my black label KOTOR2 is still sealed from the CC clearance.
I stopped in one HW and noticed some rental conversions for GC. I am so tired from the flipping I didn't even pick up anything except for a couple of GC games like Kirby Air Ride to add to the donation pile. For the duration of the sale, I've gotten about 30, cheap Children's games (mostly Gamecube and a few PS2) to give to the local children's hospital. I suggest you all do the same if this sale has been kind to you-- especially those who are sitting on GoW credit (I bought all of my donation games without the GoW credit... would have made my charity a little more easier to accomplish :/)
 
Got many of the same GC games reported yesterday. Mario Tennis, Golf, Sunshine, Double Dash, Zelda Four Swords, Paper Mario, and Futurama PS2 (woot). Thanks, y'all.

For MPLS peeps, I picked up the remaining very slim pickings (anything over $6 TiV at GS) from Hennepin, W. Lake, and 54th and Lyndale.

All games I picked up were in shit condition w/o original case/manual but if you are looking for something specific (for collection not trade to GS...) and don't mind the condition shoot me a PM and if I've got it it's yours for $4 if you'll pick it up.

Edit: Trading everything to GS on Friday.
 
was only able to pick up a ps2 futurama and xbox fable at the location right by my house. this is probably the smallest hwv i have ever seen and it seems they only have 1 copy of each game for rent, so nothing extra for them to convert.

Yeah I just stopped at one randomly thinking everything would be picked over and I was right but on last look I found a Futurama PS2...decent find.
