My Sisters and I have the 512 versions. It has a Mic and Line In so you can record your voice or off the radio. The one downside to them is that you can't take Files off of them system and put them on to a computer. (I'm not sure if you can do it with other MP3 players) That doesn't apply to the Voice Files. But there may be hacks out there to change that :D

Plus it has a screen (Take that Ipod Shuffle!)

If you can wait, this one looks pretty sweet.

It uses an OLED screen that is really bright yet uses almost no power (compared to the standard LCD screen which is a power whore).

Plus, sice it is made by Sony it can use Atrac3 files (as well as MP3, WAV, and WMA), which are the same quality as MP3 but can be compressed a lot smaller, so you can fit a lot more music.

I love OLED, I have been anticipating a device that uses it for years.
It is the screen of the future, as flexible as paper, yet durable, bright, and energy efficient.
It's like it was invented by god.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. But i also have a question is the creative Zen 1 gb good compared with the irivers. i think the zen is cheaper too. Is there that much of a difference between them?

I really like my creative muvo (micro?). I expected basic functionality, but got pretty much everything I could wish for - it even remembers your position in the middle of the track, like some players don't.

Get a cheap 128 or 256MB mp3 player with an SD card slot and then pick up a blank 1GB SD card (or two 512MB cards). If you shop around a bit you can get the whole thing under $100.

Oooh. I too have been anticipating something to use OLEDs, since I first read about them a couple years back. It's nice to see that they are finally hitting the market.

Dell Dj 5 gig is what I recommend. Trust me, I have the Dell DJ 20 (just an inch bigger than the pocket dj) and it's as good as the ipod with out that shitty price. Looks good, durable (i've been putting it through hell seeing if it will fuck up over the past month) and has all the features you need.

Yes, get over it, it's a damn dell product.

I recommend anything Creative as they make good quality products with great sound

if you sniff around you could probably find a 1gig muvo for around $100-$120

The Rio Carbon 5GB on amazon.com has a $20 rebate making it about $146.24 after you get the rebate. I was going to get an iPod, but I see this is commatible with Mac OSX and all that. Anyone have this and can vouch for it? Anyone with a iMac and MAC OSX have this and have any trouble with it? Easy to use?

Thanks.
