Yesterday afternoon I was able purchase what basically is a store display model of a laptop PC at Walmart.
It is the Acer Aspire 5745 that is missing 13 keyboard keys. The keys are still functional and you can press the characters since the rubberized sensor thingy was still intact.
I browsed the specs. and was surprised at what price they were willing to let this go for.
Showed some normal wear and tear. There is adhesive residue at various spots.
The battery was worn down since it hadn't been charged so I couldn't even power it on.
I thought about it for a few minutes. Decided it was worth taking a chance. As-is. No store return although it is still covered by the Acer warranty. 1 year.
Grand total....
$64.95 after sales tax!

Edit: Let me further add that this was UNADVERTISED and NOT currently on display. I only knew about the deal when I overheard a customer inquire about it to one of the associates. She told him they were behind the counter and they were missing "keys". My first thought was CD KEY such as with an operating system, etc. Me and the other customer were looking it over at the same time. He decided NOT to purchase.
I was originally in the store to get a pre-paid cell phone but didn't find the one I wanted.
