CAGiversary!
I have had my network adapter for months now. I play the socom's online every day and other games. My damn router wont let me hear people though even though i can talk. Then I was playing the other day and I heard a guy talking to me. Then ever since I havent heard anything. Can someone tell me why I was able to hear him?

Dumb luck is my guess, open the ports on your router, or better yet, set your ps2 to be DMZ hosted by your router, you won't have that problem anymore.

well, you have to go into your router's setup, that's usually done by going to a certain web address like 192.168.1.1 or something (check your router manual or website). Usually under the advanced settings there is a DMZ host setting. you will have to enable the setting and enter the IP address of your PS2.

I'm pretty sure you can determine the IP address for your PS2 by going into the network configurations (using the network set-up disc you got when you bought your network adaptor or, by going into it from socom). Accept the changes with your router and try that.

If you told me what type of router you have (include the model #) I might be able to give more detailed instructions or at least direct you to their website. If this doesn't work, we can try opeing up the appropriate ports.

ok, well that's bad (in my book anyway) I had a d-link (i believe it was a 604) and it never worked, I called customer service and told them that my socom wasn't working and that my DMZ hosting didn't help and they told me that they were aware of the problem but didn't have a fix. This was a year or so ago, so I'm sure it's fixed, but you might need a firmware upgrade depending on how old your router is. How old is it?

oh, but don't worry, a lot of people use d-links with no problem, will get it worked out.

go here for d-links website about the 604. you will have to determine whether you have version A,B,C or Rev E (it shows you how) and then you click on which ever one you have and then you can download the new firmware, or read the FAQs (there is one specifically about setting up DMZ hosting)

What headset are you using? Are you sure that isn't the problem?I got a new socom one that didn't work so I replaced it and fixed that problem..

P.S. I love Socom!!!What's your SN?
