My Gamestop Score (1/29): Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure

JAMMR

Banned
So I was in Gamestop today looking for some used games for B2G1... perused the N64, then GC, then the Xbox, then the PS2 racks. I was about to leave when I realized I hadn't seen any PS1 games. This was at a B&N Gamestop so the layout was spread out and I went one of the shelves in the center of the store. All the PS1 games were without a case (and I mean all of them... they had the generic blue paper with sharpie writing or else a photocopy/printout).

Then I look at the very bottom row and what do I see but Rhapsody!

I opened it up and the manual looked like it had never even been touched. When I check the discs, there's not a single scratch on them. Seriously, this is the cleanest set of discs I have ever gotten from Gamestop, EB, Gamerush, or whatever.

And that's the score. Thanks for reading.

Total price = $24.35

I'm happy with the deal but am curious ... maybe some more enlightened PS fans can fill me in: Did Rhapsody ever come in a larger box? I have the case, manual and 2 discs, that's it. The manual has the Atlus mail in thing in the middle.

...And now back to my pancakey goodness...

The reason the condition is so good is because a majority of their "used" games are brand new games that never sold, so they just tossed them in the "used" section. I got an Ogre Battle and Thousand Arms like that, both in pristine shape.

Rhapsody was made by Nippon Ichi and it came with a CD music soundtrack. Nice buy. I would like to get that game if I see it at Gamestop or EB.

How is it a good score, the games average selling price for a complete, good copy on ebay has been AT LEAST $70.00, with many opened, "like-new" copies selling for 80 or 90 dollars...so definitely an excellent find.

Congratulations!! Of course I have a sealed copy I bought at Toys R Us years ago for $14.99....I have too many RPGs I will never get a chance to play, I should probably do something about that.
How is this a good score, the game isn't even that good, nor that hard to find.
1st off it actually isnt that bad of a game, it is a niche title and many people just dont get it, 2nd it is the 1st in the marl series and relation of games (disagaea, Lapucelle, phantom brave), and was the 1st to come stateside. 3rd it is the 1st musical RPG type game to make it stateside (a huge step niche games here), 4th is is a hard to find game, it is favored by collectors and female players as well, and it is a game not many collectors are ready to let go of. It has incredible 2d graphics and a nice soundtrack. It was a game that was made in low numbers as well, and that adds to the collectibility. It is a great score to get that since I bought 3 from Atlus directly 3 years back @ 19.99 and sold 2 for over 120.00 each, and a used one for 75.00

Nice deal with the Rhapsody. Enjoy it.

I've noticed several people mention Thousand Arms as an impressive score...just how much are people willing to part with for a mint copy of it, everything included?

terrific score! The best score I had in GS, was probably 2 weeks ago, they had those b2g1f again, I got ddr, ddr konami, and dd disney mix for $63. I then sold ddr and ddr konami on ebay for $60 both. I just kept dd disney mix and gave it to my niece birthday. yeah, I know, its going like $100+ on ebay.

That just doesn't make sense to me, but then again what do I know ;) I still see lots of actually new PS1 games at Gamestop and EBs. In fact, almost every Gamestop I goto has Arc the Lad Collection new.

Also, the guy selling it to me made mention of when it was traded in, so that's not the case here.

Anyways, still happy with my score. I've wanted to play the game for awhile after reading what it was about. Odd, quirky games are really appealing and this one's quite an odd RPG to boot.

Awesome find. Check to see if a store near you has one, I checked but my local Gamestop doesent have any in stock
