my LE Xbox dead before it's 4 month anniversary

i bought it at Target, and the 90 day return is up. i have no clue what happened to it. my best guess is it was fried in a storm, but when the storm came through, my PS2, GC, PC, TV, DirecTV, DC, etc were all hooked up also, my PS2 and TV even on, and none of them were fried. my PS2 never turned off.

i need some help for getting my xbox either repaired or replaced. i really miss playing my green behemoth, so please help me out.

Its probably still under warranty... Call Microsoft.

If not, I'm sure you could sell it for almost enough money to buy a used one.

i did find a reminder in the xbox box saying to register my xbox for the warranty. i'll register it, but if all else fails, i'm going to try to buy another LE xbox, and trade my fuked xbox with a new one.

Swapping the f-ed one for a good one will not work, since stores (and presumably Microsoft) track XBox (and other consoles) sales. They know what store that particular console was purchased at, date, etc. Plus, the Xbox's serial number is on the receipt, making it virtually impossible to pull off a swap.

I would either register the XBox for the warrenty and then wait a while before calling them about the dead box, OR, as dafoomie suggests, you might just sell it (as a DOA) and get another.

FYI, Systems are not registered when you send that in anymore. That only lets them know who owns the system. When a system is sold, the serial number is captured at the time of sale and sent to MS, Sony, or Nin. They use that as the 90 days warranty date, though sometimes they will extend it a few weeks.

You're right, the fact that they already have the purchase date of your system (via serial number) would negate the 90 day warranty -and since they know you've had it for more than 90 days, I doubt they would let you simply register for the extended warranty at this point.

I would call up Microsoft and ask really nicely, maybe you'll get a cool rep. on the phone who will give you a break. Tell him you really love the XBox, you play it all the time, and that you've learned your lesson and if he can send you the extended warranty you'll buy in on a replacement. Otherwise it's Ebay time baby!
open that sucker up, and test for any possible problems, screw microsoft and their warranty voiding policies
Warantys are for n00bs. Crack that bitch open like a virgin on prom night! 8)

I saw someone sell the damn box on ebay for $60 dollars! So, you could easily make over $200 with it.
